Thanks for putting a post out there after doing some research. I think most folks would not consider this a good deal as it is ~4 generations old and recently there have been other deals for ~$200 which were better performers directly from Amazon as well as other reputable vendors.
This launched at 229, so the 299 pricetag on amazon is a travesty. That being said this will happily take anything you throw at it at 1080p and doesn't consume a lot of power or is very noisy, so if you really need to save those 30 dollars and/or need a GPU for a HTPC/SFF setup then I can fully recommend it

RX 6600 non-xt will give you 50% more performance and 33% more VRAM for 25% more money (Asrock, $215 at newegg). Plus a free copy of Dead Island 2 and Callisto Protocol... and it looks like people are selling the code for $35-55 on ebay. You don't get any Raytracing or DLSS on the 1660, so no feature loss.
The RX 6600 uses almost exactly the same amount of power under load as a GTX 1060/1660ti/1660 Super, so no advantage there, though its transient (brief, split second) spikes are higher I guess, so you might still want another 50w of overhead on your PSU vs. a 1660.

From my understanding this is better than the 6 series for an HTPC/Plex for transcoding. Planning to be in for one.
