Yes, even if the hosts policy is free cancellation you are still only allowed 3 per year. If you go over, you are required to pay the service fee. I believe the fine print is buried in airbnb's policy. I found out the hard way but may have had one refunded when I complained about the lack of transparency to the policy.

Is there any limit on how many gift cards can be used for a single reservation?
I just ordered 5, each added to my account and then I applied the payment directly to a trip that had a pending charge of over $1k. I just managed payment and checked the box next to each of the 5 gift cards.
Still no luck getting another order to process, but I did notice each separate order also qualified for the circle bonus going on as well. I need 4 orders of $80 each to get another $20 bonus. I'll just try to order again more tomorrow.

I'm not sure because I got an email with the link to the $200 AirBnB GC link but it says "You have now been charged $171.00 (the price of this item). Thanks for shopping Target!" (i.e. $191 with Target Red but looks like they applied the $20 directly + will charge me $171 instead... not complaining since that's great but want confirmation...

Answered my own question -- yes it says so "Your account will be charged the amount of the qualifying item reduced by a Target discount in an amount equal to the amount of the gift card, and a separate charge for the amount of the gift card will be assessed."

This is very tempting but it looks like you still can't apply the credit to an existing trip. You also have to do pay in full still I believe? I guess I could cancel and re-book a stay I planned.
I was able to contact customer support to have them refund my credit card and use my gift card balance instead

I get last minute changes and whatnot but most airbnbs aren't some giant corporation but just mom and pop airbnbs. You do really put the host in a bind when the loose cancellation policies are being abused.
I was able to order 6 from target in 1 order (6 max per order), ordered 2 more in a separate order. Then added all 8 airbnb gc to my account, then used 8 on the same reservation. My 8 target gc automatically got added to my target account as well (instead of having to manually click into each email and click "add to account"). Just double check that the $20 target gc are showing up in the cart.
I'm not sure exactly what that "redemption limit" is referring to, but it doesn't seem to affect anything.

I have an upcoming reservation with a $1100 balance remaining. I just bought 5x$200 in one order and immediately got the codes and $100 in Target GC....applied the gift cards to my remaining balance immediately. Slick!
