If you're going to go through hassle of installing an RO system, at least get 4 stages to include the sediment filter. I have a 5 stage system (no UV light) and it's great, have had it for about 7 years now and parts to eventually fail so I had to replace the tank and the housing for the filters, but still worth it to have excellent water (I use a TDS meter and the city water is about 210-220 where after the RO system, I'm getting 12-14 TDS which is cleaner than bottle water). We use RO water for cooking, coffee, etc and everything taste great.

Lol, illegal. That term is used so liberally. It's against the building codes in some places. As a homeowner one has the right to whatever you want to do within your own home, but at your own risk.

However, if a licensed plumber or contractor were to do something against the code, then they are in violation and may lose their license.

Read the reviews on Costco, people complaining about the availability and price of filters and there seems to be leaking issues down the road.

Apec only apec. Made in the USA. On Amazon, or their website is free drinking water . Com or something like that. Have a few systems and they are great. A chemist for a competing company said they are the only other company that is producing quality products you can trust.

Can this be installed at the water inlet to my property to create a whole house system? Our TDS is about 150 but it's causing hair loss in the shower
No. You need a bigger RO system

How much? It's usually 2-4:1. I use about a gallon a day so I'm not overly concerned with two gallons waste. I can just not flush once when I pee to make up for it.
I shut off of my Apec for good. RO for some reason based on my Flume device used up approx. 30% more water usage monthly. Time for me to rethink.

noob question, I have been wanting to have a RO system but the only opening by the sink is taken up by the dishwasher air gap. Is there any way to install a RO system without having to drill a new hole on the granite countertop? I asked a plumber and he said "no" and strongly advice against forgoing the airgap for the dishwasher.
Replace your main faucet with one that supports filtered water.

I need to get to work. Do the Google and Amazon, and if you can't find it, DM me

It says "Certified to NSF/ANSI Standard 58". But other OS system has more NSF certification. For example, the Aquasana OS system has "NSF tested and certified to NSF/ANSI Standards 42, 53 (includes P473), 58, and 401". Dose that make much difference?
Yes, certification matters because it tells you what it supports and you should get it if you need it.

After wasting hours comparing each certs and wonder if I need it, I said nope, none of this matters to me. I just need clean water, and all RO will give me this. I don't have a problem with pesticide or anything else in the water. You, most likely don't neither. And if those other systems can do it, it's likely my cheaper system can too, but it's just not certified. (Just my opinion)

I bought same brand 4 stages 2 years ago during the pandemic for 130 from Amazon, it was great but it's really picky on water pressure for some reason, either that or the sediment in our water was really bad, keep making noise n clog up every 3 months , I was so sick of it , bought another cartridge n housing of regular filter, installed to filter water before it go into the system filter, so now I consider to have 5 stages , n it performed really well for the past year. So if u run into the same issue add extra filter n housing in front

You can buy one of those faucets with filter line as well.

No. RO produces clean water very slowly (a trickle). That is why it comes with a storage tank. You would need a very large tank to shower with RO water.

Got this couple years ago for $129. Although I'm happy with the unit, I wouldn't say I like the fact that filters are pricey ($50/year) and are not common

I have bought this from Costco last year. The membrane filter - middle one clogs every 3 months and it's $50 to replace. I don't recommend if your water is too salty.

Use a double air gap to get air gaps for both dishwasher and RO with one hole.

Yes you can. I think culigan has it. They give you a touch system, when you touch the sensor on your counter top, you will get water from the same tap you get normal water. But I am not sure if they are still carrying that model, but you can try.

I was scared to drill a hole in my granite but it was actually really easy. Watched a few YouTube vids. I bought these at @7.74. That one currently unavailable but same stuff in a search.

Use with
Drill Bit Hole Saw Guide, KKUYT 4-84mm Adjustable Tile Hole Cutter Centering Locator Holder Jig Fixture with Vacuum Suction Base for Ceramic, Tile, Glass, Marble, Porcelain https://a.co/1Ab8szo
So the bit doesn't "walk" and scratch up other areas you didn't want to drill into

Removal of the air gap is illegal in most areas. Drill another hole or get a countertop RO
