It seems the struggle of the company occurred because of two reasons:

1) They ceased their military business because it was not lucrative to continue it after a 50% drop (pandemic related + 5G didn't fly with consumers as predicted)

2) Costco DIDN'T EXTEND the contract with WA. It sounds Costco will introduce some new partner or service in the future. Listen into the CEO's briefing at around 5:18 minutes

I believe last year or the end of prior year Costco was having a lot of issues and post pandemic was going to cancel them due to staffing issues, support issues etc affecting their own brand. So not new but sucks for the employees (the good ones Smilie) and sucks for consumers as this was a good competitive option from the carriers.

If Costco didn't renew the contract then Costco must take the responsibility of the rebates.

I used to work for this company from 2015-2016. Not surprised they did this. While terrible for people who need their jobs, this company is terrible and it's for the best they close. I hope they never come back.

Not that worried about the costco card rebates. Last issue I had with rebates costco dealt with it and gave me the costco cash card. A lot of people got phones recently directly at kiosks in their stores so it's going to be a customer service nightmare to deal with. These are costco customers, some of the most $ conscious shoppers around.

So my local guys I spoke to today said similar things that they had no idea and came in to work yesterday and were told that the Kioks were closed and had to walk out.


Costco did not know either and were alerted after the guys walked out so go figure.

I just did an upgrade with Wireless Advocate 4 days ago for Samsung Galaxy S22+ on AT&T. I hope they will fulfill the two $50 rebates. Went into Costco yesterday to try to exchange the phone since the battery was draining so fast but found out Wireless Advocate is gone for good. I couldn't even try to return the phone since Costco return associate told me I need to call service provider to get some kind of form to give them. I'm not sure what form he meant so now I'm stuck either way.

Part of the reason for the closure was due to Costco being unhappy with the number of costumer complaints they were receiving on behalf of the cellular sales. Costco was looking for ways out of renewing the contract. The other company decided to bail. If anything this is exactly why you should shop at Costco. They actually want to continue to provide customer service.

I assumed the 720$ for the iPhones are handled directly by t-mobile, but I just confirmed. Those discounts should be safe.

The 100$ Costco gift card might be an other story

No they don't. Costco is not required to extend anyone's contract, especially a third party company operating within Costco.

Instead of Must, I should have posted SHOULD . Granted, it was a third party but when you buy phone at Costco, regardless of whether it is third party or not, people buy it cos it's in Costco.

I bought 7 lines at Costco in September 2022 and they had just a AT&T counter. Wireless advocates who previously handled tmobile, att and verizon were gone from my local costco for atleast 6 months.
