Great price been waiting on this.

I have $25 dell promo gc sitting from the PS5 + Delm sound bar deal.

Used Dell chat to price match at dell ($99) and then applied the $25 dell gc + Amex CC. If I find another deal, hope it triggers the $40 off $200

MX Keys…meh. Might as well go with Apple and get the touch id if you're going to do a scissor switch keyboard, otherwise spend a bit more and go mechanical or a bit less and get a cheaper no name scissor switch keyboard. Imo

You have valid points for some people use case.

For me these are better over Magic Keyboard:
- hotkey BT to switch devices quickly instead of manually switching from Mac/iPad/PC
- usb-c charging
- usb-c hardwired capable
- 75% form factor

- Missing touchID
- Missing true mechanical (although mechanical MX cannot be used hardwired)

I just got the mk850. Should I get an mx keys instead

Oh wait don't the new ones use the new USB so it won't work with the elder orange USB? I use an m720 daily

Fair points. I no longer swap my keyboard and mouse between devices.

Yeah, surprised they didn't give a wired option for the MX Mechanical. I liked that keyboard otherwise.

I looked at Keychron as another option, but their keyboards lack a USB receiver.

I recently ordered a Logitech G915. Quite a but more $, but works wired, BT and USB receiver. Now I just need to find a way to 3D print some Mac keys.

I assume you are asking about the dongle? If so, yes- this is not compatible with the old multi-connect dongle. However, it allows you to connect to 3 devices directly with Bluetooth so you don't end up taking up an extra USB port on your machine. It also works hardwired if you are into that. The business versions come with the new dongle if you do desire that. Dell has had the black and grey business version (PC/Mac) for around $70 lately.

I'm not gamer but I use the normal business version of this everyday and even with (casual) gaming I can't notice any difference in input lag between using the dongle vs bluetooth.

Note: The biggest difference between this and the "normal" MX Keys mini is that the left CTRL and FN keys are swapped. This has the FN key to the far left whereas the normal one has the CTRL key as the furthest left key.

I actually prefer this one. Compared to nearly every other keyboard I've used, it's more of a reach to hit the CTRL key on the normal keyboard. Unfortunately you cannot swap this in the Logitech software or reassign the keys in any way. If you have small hands and do a lot of CTRL commands you may want to ensure you are getting the Mac version, or an alternative keyboard.

Dark/Grey/Black is better for this keyboard. I prefer anesthetics of white, but the backlight doesn't work properly with the white keys, the keys become hard to differentiate which defeats the purpose of a backlight. On black keys it works fine

Just as a heads up this keyboard *does not* have the "Globe" key.. apparently there is no way to remap that key either. Just so you know some of the shortcuts you might be accustomed to on a Macbook M1 pro may not be available. All answers by the manufacturer are cagey, and they say, "we will pass this along to our design team" which is shorthand for "we won't be able to help you here, because Apple locked the key down."

FYI I'm typing this from the full-sized version of the MX Keys and can't say I'd recommend it at the price. I want to love this keyboard as it's well-constructed and reasonably ergonomic. It also looks sleek and complements my M1 Pro MacBook nicely. And the multi-device setup works well when I need to switch computers.

Unfortunately the Bluetooth connectivity is frustrating. I can't tell whether it's the keyboard's fault or MacOS, but the connection has gotten so bad I relented and bought a Logitech Unifying Receiver. On Bluetooth the keyboard is regularly going to sleep and takes multiple taps to wake up and register keystrokes. I've turned off any power saving settings and yet the problem persists.

To be clear it works great with the Logitech Unifying Receiver, but that's another $14 expense as it's not included with the keyboard. Also it defeats the whole "Bluetooth keyboard for Mac" bit. I'd like to be able to rate this keyboard higher, but the Bluetooth issues are unforgivable at this price point.

Bluetooth has been so frustrating for mice and keyboards that I flat out avoid it now. Can't stand having to tap tap tap tap for it to start working. I went with the G915 on my Mac and thought the layout with non-Mac keys would bug me, but it doesn't. It's a great keyboard so far and works via receiver, wired or BT.
