Great price but most of the reviews state it isnt consistant speeds and has frequent drops.

I wonder if this is portable as long as you have an oulet for power?
I had this from its inception, originally it wasn't too bad-as time went on the signal got worse and buffered like nuts, 3 TV's a pc and phone. I finally gave up after 7 months and terrible to non-existent customer service. The price is definitely tempting, btw, their newer modem was worst than their first, I had a pc fan underneath to cool it down, no difference.
If true it's a no brainer. I have the service. You can expect 100mbs-300mbs. Down time nonexistent.

Can you continue this price lock for internet if you port out your voice lines away from T-Mo in the future?

Adding my experience. I'm Bellevue, WA, t-mobile's home town. Fed up with comcast's data cap and their predatory bullcrap, I canceled and signed up for t mobile high speed internet for 6 months. I had nothing but frequent dropouts and inconsistent speed - so much so that streaming and zoom calls were laggy during the day. It worked great at 1am-5am though! Verizon then launched in my area, so i switched to Verizon 5G Home Internet and it was surprisingly way more consistent, faster and no dropouts at all - however verizon keeps putting out ads and deals for "x year price lock" which makes me think they'll eventually increase the price, at which point i'll probably admit defeat and return to comcast lol

I have tmobile internet and it is not Portable at least they say in the terms that it is meant to stay in one residence. All they give you is a big hotspot essentially. It even has its own phone number that can get texts

Existing customers shafted: "Unfortunately customers who already have T-Mobile Home Internet at any rate, or who have had and cancelled Home Internet in the last 30 days, are not eligible for this promotion."

To the best of my knowledge it is not mobile. There are large, permanently installed antenae.
I have one. It's a desktop box about 6"x6"x10". It has a wifi router built in so no need for separate router. I have not tried it in another city to see if T-Mobile disconnects it, but it is definitely physically portable.

Great deal if true but the main problem with their home internet is that it will drop out when you push too much bandwidth through the modem or if you open too many connections with something like a torrent. This occurs even if you disable all WiFi antennas on the the silver can or arcadis modem (less likely on the arcadis). Many users suspect it is due to an overheating problem but who knows since the tower itself stays connected when this occurs. I suspect it is some bizarre form of throttling to slow you down to the point where it basically stops for a few minutes. The quickest solution is to power cycle it when it happens but who wants to keep doing that. I have experienced this with 3-4 of their different modems, different lines, SIM cards, etc. in 3 different states across the country. If anyone else has and found a permanent fix please share otherwise I suspect more new users will only make this well known problem even worse.

Also, almost all TMobile customer service calls go to the Philippines and they have no idea what they are doing.

Thanks

I tried this service when it first came out and you could return in 30 days. It worked at home and my dads house 150mi away. Neither were as fast as my needs. Had good speeds late at night at my pops house but ultimately returned it. Might be willing to try again at least for a few months so I can cancel my $70 frontier fios bill and sign back up under a promo later on…

Asking for speed and ping doesn't make sense since we are talking about cellphone tower. So how congested is your cellphone tower and your distance to the tower can affect your speed and ping. Just reading all the post, some people already indicate their ping is so bad they can't play online game with it.

Can this be used as a mobile unit for camping and/or RVing across most of the country?

If so, it could be powered by a generator with an ac converter or perhaps it has DC hookup for a battery.

Does anyone know if you take the modem to different places and continue to have internet? Would be useful for traveling of van life.
It will work but T-Mobile will tell you that it won't and your modem is tied to a specific address.

I only want the internet. i am not and have never been a Tmo customer. What is the cheapest possible voice line that could qualify to get this deal?
Look at the $10 taxes included t-mobile internet thread - no need for any voice lines - , seems to be easy setup using a 4G modem like the T9 or a modem and router ( router running script to change ttl) that works with some of the 5G modems.

Should work fine with a generator with an AC converter. I don't think it draws much more power than say a gaming laptop.
