Great price but most of the reviews state it isnt consistant speeds and has frequent drops.

I wonder if this is portable as long as you have an oulet for power?
I had this from its inception, originally it wasn't too bad-as time went on the signal got worse and buffered like nuts, 3 TV's a pc and phone. I finally gave up after 7 months and terrible to non-existent customer service. The price is definitely tempting, btw, their newer modem was worst than their first, I had a pc fan underneath to cool it down, no difference.
If true it's a no brainer. I have the service. You can expect 100mbs-300mbs. Down time nonexistent.

Just signed up a week ago- Not being able to get this discount would be frustrating. But the service is great- Completely replaced my cable internet.

I wonder if the discount would count for a family member on a second HSI line? I have 6 family members on the plan and a few of them have some expensive, slow home internet.

Will speedtest.net on my tmobile phone give me a good representation of what speeds are like in my area? Right now, my phone upload speeds are the same as what my 1GB Xfinity provides.

T-Mobile Home Internet *requires* no cables other than the included power adapter. It 'gets internet' from the same network* and technologies a T-Mobile smartphone uses.
The device comes largely pre-configured out of box, with the intention of the customer using the App to finish out the setup. IIRC, when I first powered up mine I was able to get immediate internet access over the pre-configured WiFi.

It also should come with a short Cat5e cable if you want to directly connect to a laptop/desktop, or to your own Router, Switch, or Access Point.

If you do not want to use 'the App' to set it up, you can connect over WiFi or Ethernet and configure it 'mostly like a normal router'. (navigating to the Gateway's IP, entering the login info from the printed sticker on the bottom, etc.)

It's basically like a super hotspot lol not close to spectrum or any other dsl service
Are your DSL providers on some type of performance enhancements? I could never get the speeds I get on tmobile when I was in DSL. T-mobile I usually get 300-500 Mbps

No. At a minimum, just needs power. The included gateway connects to your local cellular towers wirelessly, similar to your smartphones. Gateway also has wifi built-in, so your home devices could connect to it wirelessly.

Suggestions for external antennas? I want to use this as my backup and for 25.00 per month, I do it. I would just like to run an external antenna outside and attach it to the side of my house. The run would be about 50 feet or so.

I think it depends on your location. When I had CenturyLink they advertised 1000 Mbps, told me the best my address could get was 7 Mbps, but I found it never peaked over 3. We lived on hot spots until Xfinity showed up.

Anyone can get T-Mobile Home Internet at $50/month as long as it's available in your area. For this $25/month promo, it is for postpaid only.

300 GB for $150 /Per Month
Like someone else mentioned, that is for the lite version, not the unlimited version.

I've been using it for 4 months with 400-500 down and 40 - 50 up. It's been reliable and great. I work remote and so far has been like I was wired. My area has no wired internet, so this was a life saver.

Back when I had dialup we used something called Shotgun that let us use two modems with two phone lines to get double the speed. Is this still a thing? Tmobile has faster upload than Comcast where I live so it would be nice to either supplement the upload speed with a hotspot or replace it without giving up the wired download speeds.

If you have unreliable internet service, this might be a good backup, especially if you're a WFH employee.
