Great price but most of the reviews state it isnt consistant speeds and has frequent drops.

I wonder if this is portable as long as you have an oulet for power?

I had this from its inception, originally it wasn't too bad-as time went on the signal got worse and buffered like nuts, 3 TV's a pc and phone. I finally gave up after 7 months and terrible to non-existent customer service. The price is definitely tempting, btw, their newer modem was worst than their first, I had a pc fan underneath to cool it down, no difference.

If true it's a no brainer. I have the service. You can expect 100mbs-300mbs. Down time nonexistent.

I'm not seeing any Q&A remotely addressing this question now maybe I overlooked it but I can't find it otherwise I certainly would not have posted the question.

What is the cheapest plan to make me eligible for this offer? I see Base Essentials for $45.

You question is "Can you just signup for this or do you have to have cell service with T Mobile?....."
Even the Q&A question you included, there is already one that said "What is the cheapest plan to make me eligible for this offer?....."

Plus here's the first SD staff post of this SD thread.

Clearly, you can't just signup for this without other Tmobile service to get the $25 off discount price....

Because in the Terms & Conditions it says that the discount goes away when you cancel lines.

Edit: "Credits may take up to 2 bill cycles; credits will stop if you cancel any lines or change plans."
The $25 Promo is "a voice line " + "new internet line". I don't see how canceling existing $50 internet line will impact the new internet line's promo price $25.

If you cancel a voice line, then you might lose the $25 promo price.

"If you have cancelled Internet lines in past 90 days, you may need to reactivate them first. ..... credits will stop if you cancel any lines or change plans"

Seems like that would include cancel your existing internet line, then the credit will stop. If you read it more carefully, even if you have 4 voice lines and cancel just ONE voice line, then your credit may stop? The term said cancel "ANY" (voice/internet(?))) lines and not cancel all voice lines.

I checked with T-mobile and they said you cannot cancel any voice or internet lines in 90days for the promo to stick. If it was a wearable line then yes it is fine if you cancel it.

Got mines yesterday and funny how the speed can vary so greatly even in the same location.

I think this solution is great if you value cost over everything else. The reliability is simply not there at the moment with the tech. I am paying 3 times as much for fiber optic and plan to keep the fiber optic line. I'll use this in another location for a few months away from home and decide if I want to keep it long term.

Had it running for a few days now. It finally crapped out and needed a reboot. Was running great. Guess it really does need a reboot every so often.

Agreed. They won't let you get away with canceling your existing service to sign up at a lower price.

I have a 10GB hotspot plan i'd like to replace this with. Any idea if cancelling this plan would affect the promo price down the road?

$25/month tax included? TIA
Depends on your voice line plan. If your voice line plan has taxes included the internet line will also have taxes included and vice versa if the voice line don't include the taxes.

Does the T-Mobile gateway allow port forwarding needed for cameras access from the web ?
No, it doesn't allow to do port forwarding. Take a look at Tailscale.com as a workaround for being able to look at your cameras.

Is everyone's gateway used? Or did you all get new ones? My order also stated "cpo" next to the router.
Yeah, most are refurbished units. The best way to get a new is going in store since they are giving out the Sage gateway with came out recently so less likely to be a refurbished one.

It's better to turn off the WiFi radio to reduce thermal output, especially during the summer. The TMO unit is warranted for one year. I'll cost you $25 for a replacement, There are a few hot spots inside the Arcadyan with the WiFi radio ON.
How do you go about disabling the T-Mobile WiFi on the Arcadyan gateway and will this disable DHCP?
