Great price but most of the reviews state it isnt consistant speeds and has frequent drops.

I wonder if this is portable as long as you have an oulet for power?

I had this from its inception, originally it wasn't too bad-as time went on the signal got worse and buffered like nuts, 3 TV's a pc and phone. I finally gave up after 7 months and terrible to non-existent customer service. The price is definitely tempting, btw, their newer modem was worst than their first, I had a pc fan underneath to cool it down, no difference.

If true it's a no brainer. I have the service. You can expect 100mbs-300mbs. Down time nonexistent.

At 2am I was getting 320 down 40 up. At 8am it was 150 down 40 up. Now at 12:30 it's 82 down 27 up. Really depends on congestion
I am starting to notice this too. Thanks for the reply, confirms what I am seeing. Still a great deal at $25.

Any idea how long the promo is going to last? I'm currently moving into a new home at the end of this month trying to see if its worth waiting or just order now.

Just order it now, who knows when promo will end.
Only gonna cost you a few more bucks, you can set it all up in your present home and it will be ready to go in your new one.
Yeah, you're really only talking about wasting $12 bucks... I'd order now for sure, especially if it still shows availability in the area.

I have been using the T-Mobile Home Internet for more than one year, with a Nokia gateway. Recently I went to the T-Mobile store to sign up for this promotion, and got the new version of internet gateway. Here is my experience: the old gateway outperform the new gate way!. When I looked more carefully into the speed test results, I noted that the culprit is the "packet loss". For the old gateway, the packet loss is less than 5%, while the new gateway has packet loss of more than 80%. Maybe I got a defective gateway. If you get slow internet speed, you may want to check the speed test results. I also find that the old gateway allows the user to set/change many hardware parameters, while the new gateway has very few user-accessible hardware setting. This note is for my home internet situation, and it is obviously not applicable to other users.

Speed is proportional to bars. 3 bars ~200-300Mbps, 4 bars ~500-600Mbps. Test only with LAN cable to obtain true speed of data transfer. Heavy traffic will drop speed to 100-200Mbps range. The internal microware antenna is directional. 5-10 degree can alter speed by 100-200 Mbps.

Attic placement near windows facing the transmitting tower should provide performance close to outdoor scenario. Disable the build in WiFi and run LAN cable to another quality router.
What is the speed range for two bars? That's what I get inside the house. I'm getting fluctuating 15-40 Mb down and less than 5 Mb up and sometimes drops under 2Mb up.

If you are using a router and router speeds seem slower than they should, try the other yellow LAN port.

Just installed Asuswrt-Merlin on my RT-AX3000, for possibly more settings that might help speeds. Merlin firmware showed the gateways top yellow Ethernet port speed at 100 Mbps from Gateway and jumped to 1 Gbps after moving cable to bottom port. LAN and Asus WiFi speeds more than tripled.

80% packet loss would basically cripple the connection. I'd have to see screenshots. 5% packet loss would be unacceptable, 80% would be unusable.

Ordered this $25 deal and it arrived on Saturday. Hook up was easy, app showed the best placement location in my house -- which is a tri-level and has been a little tricky in the past to get full house coverage. I'm now getting 300-600m in every part of my house. Haven't had to reset it or done any fiddling since I first plugged it in. Big thumbs up in my opinion. Will be getting rid of Comcast internet and basic TV which was $95 per month.

Turns out Sprint lines don't need to lose hope! Got a text out of the blue this morning stating my (swac) account has been migrated to tmo billing. Went right down to the tmo store after that then signed up and walked out the door with my gateway no problem!

I get ~450/20 in the most ideal but least convenient spot in my home, but upper 200's/low 300's down and around 15 up simply placing it where my cable modem sat which is NOT in an ideal spot for best reception. Decided to take that hit on speed for the location convenience. I'm happy with it! Great deal!

Did you get the Arcadian or Sagemcom? I'm noticing slower speed with Arcadian but 0% packet loss. The Nokia worked flawlessly.

Supposedly end of the month, but they can pull it whenever they feel like it.

I went ahead and signed up, just completed the process via webchat. They tried to push me to accept one of the promo gifts valued at $50 (JBL bluetooth speaker, JBL headphones, or google tv hub kit BTW all not worth it) and then accept the remaining $50 via MC GC. I actually asked if I could decline the gift and just get $100 gc instead and they agreed to it. Just thought I share my experience.

I was getting connection drops at 3 bars with speeds under 100 down 10 up. Moving it upstairs next to a window jumped it to 4 bars and around 300 down 40 up and no connection drops

Where do we go to disable the built in wifi (have a wifi router) and does it affect performance?

What plan are you on? Even after talking to a rep, i still do not see $25 discount in my account. I am on Simple Choice
In case they do not reply, I'll tell you about mine...

I am on Simple Choice.
I called customer service to order mine.

My $25 discount did not show up in my account until the same day my modem was delivered, which was several days later.

Several users on here have gotten this promo who are on simple choice and the promo has been applied to them already to there accounts. So at least on that side be sure that your account qualifies for it, not to mention that the terms of the promo do not bound it to a specific set of promos like other promos do.

I myself am on a Simple Choice plan, ordered on 12/8 and still don't see the promo either. I am on your same boat. Not sure why is taking so long but I have been told by T-mobile to just wait. That it can take 5 to 7 days for it to show up on my account and up to 2 bill cycles for the credits.

Try reaching out to them to see if they tell you the same story.

Btw, on the wiki of this thread on the first page there is an example of someone with simple choice that already got the promo to show up on their account with a screenshot.

No end date has been announced nor it will. Very likely they will keep it till the end of the month but who knows.
