Great price but most of the reviews state it isnt consistant speeds and has frequent drops.

I wonder if this is portable as long as you have an oulet for power?

I had this from its inception, originally it wasn't too bad-as time went on the signal got worse and buffered like nuts, 3 TV's a pc and phone. I finally gave up after 7 months and terrible to non-existent customer service. The price is definitely tempting, btw, their newer modem was worst than their first, I had a pc fan underneath to cool it down, no difference.

If true it's a no brainer. I have the service. You can expect 100mbs-300mbs. Down time nonexistent.

so basically this so called deal is a scam. they promise unlimited, in writing, but actually have a cap that they hide from unsuspecting consumers. got it.
Well there needs to be some type of cap because what would prevent someone that lives in an apartment or multifamily dwelling from sharing it? Or a college frat house? And whats to prevent a business with 20+ users for example signing up as a personal line and using it for business?

Unlimited, they just throttle you after you use the reasonable amount - makes sense

If you use excessive data with tmo, everyone here will tell you to F yourself. You slow down the network for the rest of us that just want to use it for regular everyday use. Anyone who goes over data caps can go F themselves. Hope the provider charges you to kingdom come to curb your use.
Lmao what a take. A 1tb data cap by todays standards is a f joke. Especially for a family that uses streaming apps. You watch 4k netflix? See how fast that goes by , or want to download the newest call of duty game? Say goodbye to half your data for the month off one game.

It's funny that data caps don't seem to exist at addresses that have more than 1 high speed internet provider.

I was eligible and able to grab this deal at a TM store . Got the device and speed is great. My account still says $50 but I was told by a TM employee that they will adjust it automatically when the bill is issued. Is this correct or it should say $25 on my account ?

I don't determine what is excessive. The provider does. And I hope they stick it to those who use a lot of data. Make them pay for their use instead of raising the rates for the rest of us to subsidize their use.

USA is basically the only country in the world where users believe they have a right to no cap. Every other country in the world pays based on usage. Imagine if we could all use unlimited electricity and water and then complain if they made us pay by usage lol.

1TB is plenty for most households. Very few ever exceed it. You should have to pay more for gaming and large families that need extreme HD. Those of us that use internet to browse, email, chat, and watch 1080p will never go over 1TB. Those who do should have to sign up for more expensive plans and pay for their usage so the rest of us can still have affordable plans. Why should single people subsidize the use for a large family or for gamers?
Is this some ISP astroturfing campaign?

Everyone knows ISPs aren't using data caps to manage network congestion. Data caps have always been "nothing more than a toll on uncompetitive markets [techdirt.com]."

I'll answer a few questions based on my experience with Tmobile home internet
1. Yes this is an awesome deal and I'm mad that I've had it for some time and I'll have to keep paying more than this as a long time customer.
2. Is it perfect, no. It's cheaper but it isn't going to be (on average for most people) better than fiber from the cable company but it's cheaper. The reliability is better than Starlink.
3. If you have coverage this is likely your best option in a rural area. It's better and cheaper than AT&T, Cricket, etc. with non-throttled cellular plans.
4. This is cellular so coverage will vary.
5. Tmobile customer service is crap. Sure it's better than say Cricket and worse than the local cable provider but it's offshore like call centers with power-less local store folks. You are basically out in the cold if the local tower goes down unless they fix it in good time. Again it is likely the best option in rural areas that have no fiber.
6. If your area is densely populated and a bunch of people get this service on your tower it will be MUCH slower than other options in my experience. Think busy cell tower.
7. It "might" work for some as a mobile solution like in RV's but it's designed for a single location. Tmobile doesn't want you to move it around and will likely give you grief over that at some point. The equipment is also big like big coffee can size so it isn't a hot spot.
8. Placement in your house matters, a lot. If you have this and the coverage is good at your location then you need to move it around the house to find the best spot.
9. Download speeds are stated as 33-182 mbs but it depends on your location and how many people are on that tower. I tested this as I write this at 6am on a weekday and I'm in a really rural fringe area and it gave me 155 download and 36 upload which I'd say is about the peak performance but we have very few people on our tower.
10. You might be able to sign-up through urlhasbeenblocked (instead of the affiliate links above) and get $25 or 2500 Amex points on this. YMMV

This type of deal is killing expensive ISP's. Frontier didn't even try to counter the $25 deal I told them I was switching to, as they sadly sounded like they already knew all about it. Can't see them all giving up without some sort of pushback.

Sure are a lot of new accounts in this thread talking bad about this awesome deal (for most)....

I got on this deal several days ago and have been testing its service. Overall it's very fast (300 mbps down and 90 mbps up with latency around 30 usually at my location) for your normal internet needs except for gaming. The issue with gaming is for whatever reason many games (roblox, Diablo II resurrected, etc.) I have tested keep disconnecting from their servers even though the internet connection is still active. There are many others having the same issue online but I have not been able to find a solution in my search. I use the service mainly for playing online games, however with this problem it's pretty much useless to me. This might be something worth your consideration before getting the service.

fwiw I have the same concern that's why I was hesitant to place the order. If cancelling the high speed internet is not a problem you can just order it online and see if the discount auto applies when t mobile ships the device.
I ordered online and received the modem on 12/23. Activated it on the same day, as of today my account still shows $50 monthly charge with only one discount $5 for auto pay.The hookup discount on the voice lines is still there

Thank you! There's no way these are real people right? People defending and wishing for even more big telecom price gouging.

T Forced told me that I cannot get $25 home internet since I have my insider hook up 20%. He told me I either use 20% insider hookup or $25 home internet. If I use 20% home internet hook up, I have to pay $50 for home internet. They put the promotion code in, but it doesn't stick to my account? Does it happen to anyone?
Yes, my 20% hookup is still there, but the 50% off for the internet doesn't show. Activated on 12/23

I have the same problem. Just let me know if you have the 50% activation on your home internet later on your account.
