To all the home gym owners, big ups to staying disciplined. It gets difficult when you get older.
I lifted heavy through 2010 but couldn't keep it up due to work obligations. I retired 3 years ago and now use kettlebells, Step Mill, Rogers Hip Press, Hammer Strength V-Squat, Icarian Donkey Calf, Westside Reverse Hyper, and York GHD. At 60 I feel the machines are safer so I have accumulated the best used ones I can find at reasonable prices. I am helping my Dad through various ailments and noticed the legs go first. My advice is not to skip weight training the legs no matter what age you are!
It's easier to stay motivated if you're not always putting the heaviest amount of weight on as possible. I'm pushing 40 and am in best shape I've ever been. I finally figured out the key is to not get hurt lifting. Less weight but consistency.

I used to load up lifts and my form would eventually go to hell...then I'd visit snap city. 6 or 7 days off to recover then back at it. That's what kills motivation imo. Sometimes 6 days off turns into 2 weeks off, etc etc.

Stay healthy, lift a little less, be consistent.

And to all those who want to deadlift, be careful. this is one exercise you don't want to F around on. Really easy to hurt yourself. I DL once a week with light weight but good form. I always preferred a barbell.

1000lb capacity, but if you're using bumpers, you'll top out at about 315. The sleeve length won't allow more than that. Look for a rackable trap bar if you use bumpers and think you might progress fast enough that 315 won't be enough. For most people who want to lift weights regularly, I'm talking to you. You'll be selling this on the FB marketplace in a year.

Okay, I just picked the bar up for a Cyber Monday deal at $79. I really enjoy using it. I use one 25lb bumper closest to the handles and load skinny 45lb irons on for the rest of the weight. I like that it has 2 different handle positions so you can do full deadlifts or more of block pull. It's not very loud and the weights don't slide badly.

Yeah I was big on powerlifting in my past life. Funny tidbit still haven't assembled my Rogue reverse hyper from 2017 haha.

This sure looks exactly like the one I bought from Walmart last year. If you're looking for top quality this ain't it but it'll do. The welds are ugly the bars arent symmetrical to the eye. The bar knurling is very shallow not very grippy with the glossy paint it's covered with and it was shipped wrapped in a moving blanket and plastic wrap with a label stuck on it no box at all. Family member of mine ordered the same thing and it arrived the same way so I know it wasn't a one off.

Firstly...*looks at price* ... Obligatory nice.

Trap bars are great, even to just mix in with normal deadlifting. They have great sports carry-over And lend themselves towards explosive movements.

Some good miscellaneous trap bar exercises: Shrugs, calf raises, and farmers walks.

This has always been $69 on Amazon per the 3Cs tracker. It briefly jumped down to $55 on Dec 2nd. That was the time to buy. Amazon doesn't state free returns on this.
