Nice price and specs, was going to grab one but noticed a review that noted end of support:

The AUE is only June, 2026
3.5 years away. At this price, that's $37 per year. And of course it won't stop working in June, 2026. It just won't be safe to use because it's not guaranteed to get software updates.

Not an issue. Who the hell on earth will try to hack someone on a $129 laptop?? I mean, what is the value? People buying this won't do anything related to multi million dollars project or transaction obviously. I really don't mind even sharing the PIN code of this laptop specifically lol

it won't be safe? ;you can use a safe browser like brave and you can run a firewall and virus protection ap.. it's safe. where do you get it's not safe?

you can even just update to the new chromeOS yourself with a little extra work.

. The 2-in-1 Chromebook is fast, flexible, fanless, and lightweight. The Duet 3 is on sale from December 12-18 when it will be $80 off for a total of $199."
shows the current price as $379 making it $300 or $200 after coupon. Getting one for only $100 would be a steal.

Your probably thinking the Screw write protect method. -- The new CR50 methods just need to disconnect the battery to disable Write protect.

01. Hold ESC-Refresh -- tap Power to boot to ChromeOS in Recovery Mode --
Press CTRL-D to enter Developer Mode and disable verification --- allow ChromeOS wipe ~5mins
02. Login to ChromeOS via google credz and establish WIFI connectivity with ur router. - shutdown Chromebook -- disconnect Power
03.Take apart bottom half and disconnect Battery - leave off and reconnect Power cable only to Chromebook-- boot into ChromeOS (This will disable "Write Protect" mode)
04.Launch Chrome Browser then press Ctrl-ALT-T to launch a Terminal
05. Type "Shell" to enter shell mode and paste the MrChromebox.tech script in there:

cd; curl -LO mrchromebox.tech/firmware-util.sh; sudo install -Dt /usr/local/bin -m 755 firmware-util.sh; sudo firmware-util.sh

06. select Option to install Full UEFI Firmware -- run through the prompts (because i can't remember them all) -- let it do its thing and reboot -- and you should get a coreboot "bunny" logo BIOS
07. Install Windows/Linux as any other x86 PC - through bootable ThumbDrive. - may need to find a Win11 TPM bypass method (with rufus)

08. shutdown and reinstall battery as before and your done.
Last night I was successful disabling write protect and installing latest MrChromebox and full UEFI bios. Unfortunately, this model (Leona) is Kabylake gen so no working audio drivers for windows or Linux (based on coolstar.org and r/chrultrabook , bummer.

Gonna go back to ChromeOS. Maybe consider trying legacy bios and dualboot just to have non-sandboxed Linux available

Hope that answers burning questions on "buying to install windows or Linux" with little effort

Stellar machine means I'm ok with a little more effort for workarounds.

Interesting, I tried this on a
Lenovo - Chromebook 3 11.6" HD Laptop - Celeron N4020 - 4GB Memory - 64GB eMMC - Onyx Black
Model: 82BA001FUS

I got stuck at step "03.Take apart bottom half and disconnect Battery - leave off and reconnect Power cable only to Chromebook". It wouldn't power with the provided power supply and the battery disconnected. Ended up returning it.

I'll give it a shot with this Asus.
Worked great for me. When you take the screws off of the bottom, keep track of which ones went where, because there are two different sizes. Also, there are two screws under the rubber feet near the hinge, so you have to pull them off.

So I got the native speakers working with Coolstar's Windows Audio drivers - there's a "chrultrabook" discord channel where you can get information on that.

Alternatively you can use USB Headphones to get sound or even Bluetooth headphones/speakers as well.

Picked this up today. Seems great for the price but is anyone else's running hot? Seems to be abnormally warm for a chromebook towards the back middle of the bottom cover.

Looks like they dropped the price on this, and is now $119? Has anyone been able to get their prior ordered price matched? I just picked mine up this evening 🤦 ♂️

How is this compared to the touchscreen one that is now $229 on sale? So it's $90 less for a nontouch screen? But are they the same nits? Is the nontouch screen washed out? Anyone bought 1 of each and can compare the screen?

Also never had a touchscreen laptop but i read some people say they hate touchscreen because it makes the screen smudge more? Is that truth or false? But is the $90+ price difference just the touch screen vs non touch screen? That seem to be a huge price difference if everything else is the same?

Anyone know how long this deal will last?
