Both are great TV's, just sharing the difference for $170 more. Can't go wrong with either at this price and being refurbished by Samsung directly with two year warranty.

The QN85 with the IPS panel has wider viewing angles. The QN90 has decent viewing angles for a VA panel. (Thanks for the Rtings article link.)
Don't forget VA yields better contrast which translates to blacker blacks during dark room viewing. IPS wins at viewing angles. But the whole viewing angle debacle is so overrated.

I typed in: qn65qn85aa manufacturer year
and it told me.
So what year was it?
I agree based on this article and my new 85" Q60B (yeah I know it's 2022 and the Q60B model but same problems apply). Mine had bad contrast and on a dark scenes all the black areas would glow white. If anyone's debating, go for the QN90A or QN90B for 2021-2022. Any lower model has these issues.
PS don't let Samsung get away with providing poor panels in their TV's.
