If you are an existing FIOS customer, without Verizon Wireless (cell) service, give this a try.
Check http://verizon.com/specials to see what is currently offered in your area (make sure the zip code is correct).
Try ordering it, but most likely it won't give you that price when you get to the options to order.
If the offer is less than you're paying now, chat with a rep, mention that you see the offer but it won't let you order it.
They will say it is not applicable to your account.
At this point you can try asking to speak to a supervisor, that isn't the path I took though, they offered it later in the chat.
If your area also has a competitor like Xfinity, mention that they are offering 400 meg for $29.99 per month (or whatever offer is in your area). Not sure if this helped my case or not but can't hurt if you have a similar offer.
They probably still say they can't do anything.
Ask them to schedule cancel of your service on the last day of your billing cycle (if your billing cycle ends in a few days, don't risk that, either wait a few days to try this or tell them to cancel at the end of your next billing cycle a month out since it will take you a while to get the new competitor service installed).
In my case they then offered for me to talk to a supervisor. I restated the case to them, and they applied $10 discount to match the offer on my current plan. Got an email, accepted the offer, and was good to go.
No 10 year price lock included in my deal (no router either but I don't need that). The 10 year price lock says only for customers who have not been active in 180 days. So if you really want that 10 year lock, you probably have to cancel and sign up again under a new name (there is a specific process to follow when doing this, make sure you schedule the cancellation on the last day of your billing cycle and the new service to start on the day after that, and you will have some downtime).

1) In the 20+ years I've had Verizon Internet -- first DSL then FIOS, they never *shockingly* increased the price on me unless I ordered a faster speed. And often they reduced my bill significantly and/or gave me a speed boost because I was a "late adopter" to faster speeds and they discontinued the speed I was using. They basically follow whatever Comcast does, which is their main competitor. Right now I pay $40/mo for 300/300. Originally it was 200/200, but they boosted me because they don't offer 200/200 anymore.
2) If you have Verizon Wireless and FIOS you get a $10 discount, but it's pretty much wiped away with taxes and fees plus Verizon Wireless is more expensive than ATT or TMob unless maybe you get a discount from work or other organization. This is a key reason I don't have Verizon Wireless. The other reason is Verizon's signal is crap at my house compared to ATT or TMob.
Don't fall for this empty marketing just to get a "locked in" Internet price.
I was able to get them to drop my price to 29.99 via chatting with a supervisor. No 10 year price guarantee though. My price hasn't changed in years so hopefully it will just stay that way. All the supervisor did was add an extra $10 discount with no expiration to my existing account.

Oh well, I'm happy to have an extra $10 off, 10 year lock would be nice but it isn't worth the hassle of cancelling and signing up again, since I've had FIOS for almost 10 years and the price has never gone up. And looks like if I did that, I still wouldn't get the 29.99 rate.
Great deal if you get it...
ans Comcast is a greedy company
I'm only speaking to internet as I didn't use TV from either one but as of now it's the best technology you can get for internet (short of an expensive dedicated internet line that businesses use).
I'm now down to $30 a month for 300/300 (310/350 speedtests) and almost feel guilty at that price
Contrary to what they try to make you think, FIOS IS shared (using very impressive yet somewhat low tech methods to share it) but the capacity is large enough that it has never impacted me or anyone that I know of. Unlike cable/coax, they just need to upgrade hardware to increase capacity, the fiber infrastructure is virtually limitless capacity.
So yeah, I'm agreeing with you 100%

I have both the T-mobile plan and verizons gig plan.
t-mobile:
gives a 15day free trial
refused to give me the $25 discount plan unless I convert my sprint / t-mobile plan over to t-mobile
The speed is avg but gaming I noticed some lag.
The verizon gig:
$15 military discount
$25 discount if u have verizon cell service, must maintain cell service for the 10 years to keep this
I just applied a military discount and they raise my original plan by $10 for me to be able to the $15 military discount so it only saved me $5.
