I bought 2 copies EL from Walmart and Best Buy last year on vinyl for gift exchanges.
My nephew got one and it sounded decent on his inexpensive turntable. The coworker who got the other said it sounded muddy.

Is there any way tell how these are labelled as to the pressing quality ?

I wish there were a way to determine pressing quality. But, this has been a weakness in vinyl production all along. Each master (very expensive to produce) has a limited number of highest quality pressings, decent, acceptable, and tolerable. Every stamping, being a pressed image of the analog signal, marginally degrades the master. Digital recording is encoded information, and can be absolutely duplicated. That said, early pressings capture a full analog musical experience, in smooth curve. Digital, no matter how finally time is divided, is never fully smoothed out. All of these distinctions are judged subjectively, where some find one muddy, and the other, crisp.

I was just helping clean out my mothers basement and found all of my old records from college sealed up and this was one of them . Haven't played it yet but it should be interesting.

The recording is what sounds mudded, there is only so much remixing and remastering can do. With that said, this release is as good as it can be.

Product Description:	Are You Experienced is the debut studio album by the rock band the Jimi Hendrix Experience. Released in 1967, the LP was an immediate critical and commercial success, and it is widely regarded as one of the greatest debuts in the history of rock music. The album features Jimi Hendrix's innovative approach to songwriting and electric guitar playing which soon established a new direction in psychedelic and hard rock music. Coming after three successful European singles, it helped introduce him as a new international star.
