Perhaps. i can only personally comment that I've been playing with one for a month and it's working fine. Does get pretty warm with large transfers. I'd suggest a heat sink.

I wonder if the people having problems are overheating.

What do you use it for.

If the product is known to overheat, it should come with heat sink on it. The warranty claim needs this to be sent to Taiwan. I got a smaller M33 which is going back to Amazon.
