I think so…I have the Mini 2 and it's kind of a pain to dock/plug-in my phone to the remote. My friend has the Mini 3 with the built in remote screen and using it in Hawaii this fall was really cool and a lot quicker/easier to use on the beach.

It's not the same camera. Pro 48mp vs 12mp. Pro 4k 60fps vs 4k 30fps. Pro does slomo 120fps, new mini 3 does not.

DJI just announced the 3 mini with the screen controller for under $700 I believe. It basically removed some of the auto avoidance sensors but kept the same camera and has a longer flight time. Might be worth holding off.

Please help …. I recently bought the DJ mini 2 from Costco for under $400 (I think $380). It's my first drone and I was wondering if it's worth returning mine back to Costco and purchase this model.

Its already available on their website. $858 with fly more and smart controller. No tax for NV.

It's the same sensor so you'll get better low light performance, but they crippled it in all the ways you mentioned.

I have the Mini 2. It's a great drone if you're a hobbyist. Thought about upgrading to the 3, but I still like the 2 and don't think it's worth the upgrade for nearly twice the price (albeit, it has great new features). With the 2, you'd likely feel less bad if you crashed it.
