Will this work by itself or does it need another connected device to work?

Works by itself. Install and download the app.

You do need a smart phone with their app installed. I'm going to assume you already have a pre existing functioning doorbell to tap into. This model is smaller than the current model which may be the only one that fits if you have limited space to install. The subscription cost is well worth it if it fits in your budget. Camera quality is good.

For unlimited cams though right? I haven't looked at their fee structure in awhile.

On paper yes, the specs look better for the old one but based on almost all reviews, the new camera provides much better video and better detection most likely due to better software. The drawback as I see it is you can't use the new one on the old nest app but I'm sure that will be eventually killed anyway.

The one that works on the original APP? Can you use Prime return?

4 years, two hurricanes, an no subscription.

If it is the original!!!!!!!!!

Have a Swann camera system for long term recordings.

All I need is an alert when someone pushes the doorbell. This might be over kill but at least it works.

Might be cheaper options. Was looking at KASA but it had some poor reviews.

Thank you! I pulled trigger this weekend. Everyone I've spoken to said they love it and also paid much higher.

$6 for unlimited cams with motion recording. 12 a month for 24 hour. Pretty amazing deal honestly if you have the bandwidth for it.

I have a whole system and recommend it if you're looking for monitoring (not if security is top priority). The doorbell has the "IQ" software which does accurate face/pet/package detection. It's pretty nice. You can set it up to ring all your hubs, and phone with custom rings, and/or set up with your existing doorbell. Cloud saves use subscription model but you can add unlimited cameras under one sub. I'd probably buy a couple hubs too especially since they are on sale, but it works on it's own just fine.

Going to try this to replace the Google battery doorbell, which looks nicer than this one but the battery is constantly dead and you can only view the video from your phone on the home app.
