FYI, the $30 rebate only applies to mercury thermostats, they are mostly gone since about 20 years ago.

I thought they ran out of funding for the year. Maybe that was a different program. I just remember the program I was looking at was like county specific. For example, Los Angeles still offers rebates.

The first coupon is CA-wide and the second one is local

Are these the same ones where the state dictates what temperature your house can be during the summer in CA?

Yes. You can choose to ignore the $40 savings by not participating. You decide.

Soooooooo dramatic !!!
You can ALWAYS adjust your own thermostat temperature even during those 7-10 flex alert days.

I do not recommend any smart thermostats in your home unless you run commercial. My brother does residential service calls and he constantly has to swap these out back to the original thermostats due to electrical compatibility.
I had 2 nest thermostat in my home for last 8 years without issues. Common C wire should be requirement for all smart thermostats.

I have had 2 Ecobee Units for over 4 and half years without any hiccups yet.
I have a Dual Fuel Heat Pump in main floor and a regular Cooling & furnace system at 2nd Floor. Ecobee units have been serving my home units really well and it is very easy to install, Set-up, running. My Ecobee needs C-Wire (Power Supply Line to Ecobee unit) to install, but I heard that New Ecobee Gen 3 doesn't require C-Wire.

However, I highly recommend a smart thermostats.

I'll show them. My house only has gas heating and no air conditioning. If I sign up and get the rebate they can set my cooling thermostat to 80 without any effect on my house temp!

* Don't worry, not contributing to the energy problem, because we use no grid power from 4-9pm, are a net producer during power flex alert events and already have a Zwave thermostat that controls heating based on occupancy...

looks like they are all selling at $249 which you could get at ebay for ~$150

But I'm getting the $89.99 cheap one minus $75 as a backup, thanks!

Home owner either didn't read the manual or your brother doesn't know how to really service smart thermostats. I've had one in every home ived owned and 0 issues. Also lots of incentives to sign up for programs that auto adjust your thermostat during peak usage on the grid. I would definitely recommend a smart thermostat.
