FWIW, if you haven't bought this before, just buy it. It is absolutely an entertaining (and educational) read of some amusing hypothetical scenarios, Randall (and his webcomic XKCD) is one of the best scientific humors out there.

With its fun illustrations I would still recommend the hardcover if ever the opportunity, but this is only $3 . Hope this helps!

I've seen this on Slickdeals before so time to play a favorite game: "Did I Purchase & Never Read?"

Yes. Purchased 12/2/18. Guess it's time to read this.

What if 1 & 2 hardcovers just had a 20% off coupon for me

Came out to:
just under $11 for "what if" and
just under $15 for "what it 2"

Worth a shot if you are in the market! Hopefully it's good as a hardcover like the above posters mention Smilie

She will love it then and 13.30 is a good price. If she does, you should show her the webcomic, xkcd.com, for tons more.
Not every xkcd comic might be suitable for an 11 year old. For example, #136. I think the What If stuff probably is, since many of the questions are from kids, but I haven't read the book and didn't read the website versions (the ones I have read) with younger people in mind.
