"Catan has very little interesting decision-making and far too much luck. Most of the interesting decisions are made during placement, and the majority of the game consists of rolling dice. The robber is a take-that mechanic that always feels punishing and mean. Development cards are a large price to pay for a random card that could win you the game or do nothing. The game goes on for far too long given how random and petty the gameplay is."
I think that Catan is fine with if you're new to it or new to board games, but as you play more and more (with others that are more experienced), it gets "old" and you can feel a lot of it depends on luck, as most people can see past the social aspect of the game (to try to get a take advantage over game)
The expansions do prolong some of that but you have to ask yourself if you want to invest in all that, vs finding the next board game to play.
Almost broke my marriage 😂

Sounds like a review from a sore loser that lost every game they've played. There's a reason this game is so popular. It isn't Candy Land.
