Insane deal and just pulled the trigger + 5%cb and a coupon brought it to like $220 w/tax shipped for me. The 3450U is a pretty old processor but should get the job done for most folks. Here is a link to a video card test for this processor:

According to the comments on Walmart, it has a single SODIMM expansion slot but the on-board 8GB of RAM is soldered. I couldn't find out if the SSD is soldered or if there is another m2 slot. Many folks said the screen looks pretty sharp but criticized the plastic body as being pretty flimsy.

I've had this exact laptop for over a year. it's reliable and hasn't had any problems. The ram is soldered and does NOT have an extra sodimm slot. There are two m.2 slots in sata mode, and one is occupied by the 256gb ssd included. Mine had a ssd made by Netac. I replaced it with a WD Blue 500gb sata m.2 ssd. Wifi is also soldered. Only thing upgradeable is the ssd. I'm running Windows 11 Pro perfectly fine on it. Plastic chassis is flimsy but its a sub $300 laptop...proper expectations.

Note: The power button has to be pressed for 3 to 4 seconds to be powered on.

I just confirmed on Gateway's site that this laptop has 8gb soldered memory & the included 256SSD is NOT soldered and can be replaced and it has an additional m.2 slot if you want 2 hard drives.

Yes, you can allegedly add another 8gb module, but why? Just get the other gateway with more RAM and larger SSD. It goes on sale all the time, like, ALL THE TIME. just bought one last night for $279. silver is currently available at this price

Imagine visiting Slickdeals and paying $1k for a laptop. Different people have different requirements and price preferences/requirements. Often it comes down to, "I'd take a $### computer, as long as it has XYZ. Everyone has their deal breakers, and there's nothing wrong with that. Personally, I can't imagine using a computer with 8GB RAM in 2022, at any price (unless it's upgradeable, or for a single-tab-at-a-time user).

never buy this brand!! Very Bad customer service never answer the call. I got gateway laptop in last year June and gifted to kids on his birthday but laptop never turn ON. Screen goes Black after loading Gateway and Windows logo. It is under 1 year warranty but Customer service never answer call. endup calling 100 times no response yet.

That's his point I think. There's more than a few people here that can't grasp that everyone isn't a gamer and doesn't need the latest Nvidia thingamajig. "ZOMG you're making a huge mistake when for a just 'few dollars more' (2 or 3 times the price) you can get something SO MUCH BETTER!!!!"
