Thanks. I also saw they have good deals on the Z6 Mk1 refurbished ($1,400 with 24-70 f4).

Anyone know what warranty, if any, Nikon offers on their refurbished cameras?

It's says on Google.

All Nikon refurbished cameras, lenses and accessories include a 90-day limited warranty against defects in material and workmanship. It offers the same warranty coverage as the Nikon Digital Imaging Warranty, just for 90 days instead of one year.

These products have been carefully reconditioned by Nikon Inc. to meet all factory specifications. Refurbished products may have signs of previous use (minor body wear or other cosmetic indications) but contain all the needed cables, batteries, and other accessories and are protected by a 90-day limited warranty. As of Sep 30, 2016

Since it's directly from Nikon it's much better they said don't trust anybody outside of Nikon refurbishing the camera you can't and don't know who they are who does the work.

Nikon store does not have the best return policy:

https://www.nikonusa.com/en/nikon...urns.page#

"...the Nikon Store will accept for refund merchandise purchased at the Nikon Store, within 14 days of delivery if such merchandise is either (i) defective, or (ii) unused and unopened.

Return Period
To return merchandise for refund, customers must both (i) obtain a RMA number within 14 days of the date the order was delivered to the delivery address specified on the order (this date will be verified using the UPS tracking number), and (ii) return the merchandise so that it is received by the Nikon Store within 14 days of the date the RMA number was issued."

True. Make you sure you want this.

That said, I've bought several cameras over the years from them. All were excellent.
You could only tell they were refurbished by the plain box they came in.
Whenever I sold them years later as used I got close to what paid initially.

I agree. If it is not manufacturer refurbished, I'd consider it used, unless it had several years of warranty by an established seller.

I bought the two lens deal a few months ago without this discount and thought it was a good deal. The camera I got had a shutter count of 1,

Is this a good camera for a beginner/ someone trying to get into photography? Or any recommendations for one if other brands are better? I don't mind spending a bit more (would like to stay under 1.5K) if I won't need to upgrade anytime soon.

It is hard to annswer. It really depends what your objective is.

Pics/Video, both?
What kind of pics? Lots of movement, landscape, wildlife etc?

Do you want to learn manual mode where you control the picture outcome, vs the algorythm Auto mode or a smart phone creates for you? In my opinion that is the real reason to spend money on camera and lens system like this or the others.

Do you plan to buy a lot of lenses later? Nikon doesn't offer much for this body unless you are ok with using and FTZ apaptor.

You can learn photography cheaply with a used Nikon D3xxx body, Sony A6xxx or Canon and later get a better body and keep the lenses. That is why I bought this model. I had a lot of lenses that will fit it with an adaptor.

I've been eyeballing this. I have a D5000 and a handful of f AF-S lenses. Nothing to top shelf but lenses none the less. I would like something to video 4K water polo matches a bit better then my iphone.

Also shooting photos in manual is a necessity as well.

This a good one or should I keep looking?

I like it a lot. I don't do video though. I had D7500 which I liked a lot.. It feels like a smaller version of the D7500 of it to me.
The kit lenses are actually quite good.
Video is supposed to be good as far as Nikon is concerned. The D7500 had only cropped 4k I think.

For all you pros or anyone that knows photography
Is the z50 a good camera for a beginner
I want to use this to take photos of my kid and family trips
Only thing I've been using so far has been my iPhone 14 pro max not sure if it's worth spending the 650 for a cool camera

Not a pro, but the best camera is one on hand. If your not going to spend the time to understand and learn this will just end up on sitting on the shelf.

If you just want good photos with minimal effort, you should stick with the iPhone. The Z50 is a great camera for people who want to learn more about photography, want more flexibility (manual exposure controls, control over depth of focus, etc) or want to use specialty lenses like telephoto lenses for wildlife photography. But it takes some experience and knowledge to take good photos. If you just use the kit lens and use fully automatic mode, it won't be any better than your iPhone.

I have a Z50 and like it a lot. I also have a Z7 but the Z50 with kit lens is a nice compact setup for everyday carry and travel (for trips where photography isn't a main focus, like business trips). However I don't know anything about video, I only shoot stills.

You do need to buy an adapter to use F mount lenses though. But there's a third party clone (Viltrox, I think) if you don't want to shell out for the Nikon FTZ adapter.
