Do you think it is worth upgrading from a DS3500? I actually have 2 and about 5 lens.

D3500? Depends what you want imo anything the D3500 doesn't do for you?

The internals of the Z50 are a mix of a D7500 and the Z5/6.
You'll get much better AF. Better than the D7500 I had before.
The sensor is a bit newer version of the 20.9 in the D7500. With a bit bigger pixels than in the 24 Nikon sensors. A bit better low light and dynamic range.
You get full 4k video. All in a small body.
Much easier to travel with, or walk around. Which was my main objective. With the FTZ, you can use all the lenses you have, at full functionality, that is why i stayed Nikon DX and didn't go Sony or Canon. The FTZ is used with warranty $139 from mpb.
Hope that helps.

Z6 and 24-70 f/4 is an awesome combo. Get the 85 1.8S (later on) and you have a one killer setup. When I got my Z9 I thought I'd let go of the Z6. I can't it's still so good it's my backup, street, travel camera.

Is this a good camera for a beginner/ someone trying to get into photography? Or any recommendations for one if other brands are better? I don't mind spending a bit more (would like to stay under 1.5K) if I won't need to upgrade anytime soon.
More info about what you wanna shoot would be the biggest help, pretty much every modern camera would be capable of producing great photos in certain conditions but where one might excel at say wildlife another might be far better for indoor portraits. The lens selection is a huge part of the decision, the z system lenses for these are newer so there are not as many options but every piece of z glass I have touched is amazing but pricey. I do enjoy my Fuji xt5 far more than my Nikon z5, it's simply more fun to shoot, but the Nikon is technically the better camera in most aspects, just depends what you wanna do with it

Huh, at least for me both the z6 and z7 are $1999. 999 would have been a steal for the z6, too bad.

Some error on their site? It makes no sense that they price the same as a Z7.

Z6 (Body only) came in the mail yesterday. Looks absolutely brand new - not one sign of being used. Don't have a CFExpress card yet, so can't retrieve the shutter count yet.

Came installed with firmware 3.12

tl/dr: Z5 is a full-frame camera with in-body image stabilization. Z50 has a smaller APS-C (cropped) sensor. The Z5 is a superior camera which will get you better image quality and low light performance.

Oh, yeah - definitely buy from Best Buy since it's brand new. They are the same thing.

I think the real deals in this post are the Z50 and the Z6 for $999 (looks dead, price is back to $1999).

Z5 body and the Z50 kits look like 'new' prices for some reason. Weird.

My input, I own a z5 + a few different lenses.

z50 = crop sensor but great for vlogging

z5 = great for beginners, great all around body.

z6ii = the best for video and sports (In this bunch, z9 is the best of the best)

z7ii = best for those who want to print stuff

All of the lenses are top notch EXCEPT the 24-50. Worst z mount lens created. Get a used 24-70/f4 or buy a 24-120/f4 if you want the extra reach. Best bang for the buck when it comes to lenses. Used 24-70/f4 goes for about $325. The 24-50 sells for around $150 on the used market and take a long time to sell, avoid that lens.

It is hard to annswer. It really depends what your objective is.

Pics/Video, both?
What kind of pics? Lots of movement, landscape, wildlife etc?

Do you want to learn manual mode where you control the picture outcome, vs the algorythm Auto mode or a smart phone creates for you? In my opinion that is the real reason to spend money on camera and lens system like this or the others.

Do you plan to buy a lot of lenses later? Nikon doesn't offer much for this body unless you are ok with using and FTZ apaptor.

You can learn photography cheaply with a used Nikon D3xxx body, Sony A6xxx or Canon and later get a better body and keep the lenses. That is why I bought this model. I had a lot of lenses that will fit it with an adaptor.
Thanks! Will be using mostly for pics (landscape/wildlife) do plan to buy a lens or two once I get comfortable with the camera.
