I've been using this for years.

Pro-Tip (since its left off most recipes):

You want to buy Iota Carrageenan and guar gum powder. Makes the ice cream smooth and soft without completely overloading it with fats.

I use no more than a 1/4 teaspoon of guar gum (probably more like 1/8), and no more than 3/4 teaspoon Carrageenan per 2 quarts. Mixed with the sugar before adding it.

Too much guar gum, and the ice cream becomes gummy. None, and you're ice cream will be icy. (Unless you use more than 50% cream and yolks... which I find kind of gross and heavy)

Paid 80+ several years ago for this same unit. My wife has used it dozens of times and it has been reliable and made some great ice cream. It was the best reviewed ice cream maker under the 200ish range when I researched it back then.

Reviews look good and seems like an excellent product for the price. Honest question though, I make ice cream by blending ingredients in my ninja and then freezing them freezer-safe jars (usually ones I saved from previous Talenti pints), if this machine requires you to pre-freeze the bowl and 6 hrs to make, what would be a benefit to using it over my current method? I am really curious and would love to buy it for a family member who also uses my same method if there are true benefits to it. Thanks in advance compadres

Ice cream needs to be mixed/stirred while its experiencing temps below that of ice until its smooth and creamy, then set in the freezer until firm.

Had Target price match so it arrived before the holidays
Thank you for the idea. Chat rep turned me down at first saying Target doesn't price match sales. I told her I didn't see that anywhere in the price match terms. She said she would check again, then came back and "really went out of the box to do it for me."

Do you have to put the bowl in the freezer before making ice cream (or whatever)? Or does this do the freezing for you?
Yes, you have to put both the bowl and the paddle in the freezer for 24 hours (recommeded) before churning ice cream

I have one of these, and it does work well. But I recently bought the Ninja Creami (7-in-1), which can now be found for under $100. The Ninja does make smaller batches (1 pint at a time, but you can have several pints, possibly different varieties, ready to go overnight, whereas the Cuisinart can only make one batch and then you have to re-freeze the container). The Ninja is so fast, and more versatile then the Cuisinart.

Target price matched for me under 5 minutes on a phone call. Also, getting it shipped in by the 21st, well before Christmas.
Trying to support target more and their customer service is unbeatable.

How? I tried and they told me that promotional items don't qualify, what phone number did you use?

+1 (800) 591-3869. They just asked me for the item and the price in Amazon and they verified it and gave me the price- match.
