This is not entirely accurate. Some cheaper toothpaste may have the same active ingredient. However most will not. The active ingredient stannous flouride can be found in several other toothpastes and would have a similar/same effect.

Is this just a gimmick toothpaste or does it have something really different in the ingredients vs the normal tube of Crest?

Total gimmick. It has the exact same ingredients as other much cheaper toothpastes. I fell victim to this when my (former) dentist told me I needed to buy both gum detoxify and gum restore toothpastes and rotate daily. Detoxify was $4 more for the same size tube and same active ingredients. My new dentist recommends sensodyne and crest pro health.

Just because it has the same active ingredient doesn't mean the other ingredients are the same.

Same as others just make sure it uses stannous fluoride.

Walgreens has deals all the time for toothpaste cheaper that also contains stannous fluoride.

Add 3 of these to your cart and get $5 off. Equals 3 tubes for $4 and they use stannous fluoride.

Stannous fluoride can stain. I used this "gum" marketed one with no issues for a long time.

I tried the "densify" version thinking it was the same formula due to the active ingredient. It was not. Stained my teeth considerably in half a tube. I imagine it's a very individual thing and one or the other may or may not do it to you.

Switched to regular Flouride and it improved some. Proper office cleaning got it all, no problem but I opted for a high powered flouride toothpaste for once a day rather than gamble on stannous again.

I've been using this for 3+ years now. There's no significant staining (at least no more than drinking tea or coffee).

I swap back and forth with regular fluoride toothpaste. My dentist noticed a big decrease in periodontal bacteria (my gums were less inflamed). Mouthwash with Listerine for extra fluoride and my dentist is very happy.

Not sure why this is marked as dead. It's still the same price for me (and cheaper with 15% S&S), and the coupon is still there.
