| Product Description: | The Tokina atx-i 11-16mm F2.8 CF is re-designed for an improved user experience and better image quality. The constant F2.8 aperture lens provides excellent edge-to-edge sharpness and resolution. Reduces flare and ghosting, while maintaining excellent contrast and color. A new waterproof top coat also makes it easier to clean.
Popular among cinematographers too, because the lens provides a wide cinematic feel, minimized breathing, no edge distortion while panning, and the overall weight and internal focus design makes it an ideal choice for gimbal work.
The One-Touch Focus Clutch Mechanism makes switching from AF to manual focus (MF) simple. While in AF mode the user only needs to snap the focus ring back toward the camera to engage "real" manual focus control. This gives photographers an authentic tactile MF feel with hard stops on either side of the focus range like traditional manual lenses. Additionally, the directional rotation of the focus ring matches the direction of proprietary Nikon and Canon lenses.
The new Tokina atx-i 11-16mm F2.8 CF incorporates a complex optical design, with 13 elements in 11 groups. Using 2 aspherical lenses including a large aspherical P-MO element and 2 all-glass molded Low-Dispersion (SD) elements, the lens effectively suppresses chromatic and spherical aberrations. The front element provides super-low distortion and low light fall-off for straight lines and minimal exposure vignetting. Perfect for architectural, landscape, astrophotographers, and cinematographers. " |

100mm is Full Frame (FX)
Going up to 20mm FL makes it more versatile, since can be used for general photography as well, and greater background separation power, lessening the need to change lenses.
Another strength with these wide Tokinas is the minimum vignetting, so much so that you can use them with FF for an even wider field of view, if you don't mind the vignetting.
The only issue with these wide angle Tokinas is the pronounced chromatic aberrations but that can be fixed in post, not so sure about in-camera CA correction for Video though.
It is hard to find zoom lenses like these with large apertures and autofocus at this price, so this is a good deal.
Disclaimer, I don't own one yet, but did some research before buying it yesterday.

I own both the 11-16 and the Tokina 12-24. These lenses are great for their price point especially if you can grab one on sale. If you need a true Rectilinear wide angle lens, they are sharp enough for their price and the color saturation is good. You will get some distortion and Chromatic abberation at the both extremes of the focal point. The distortion can be corrected in post. Using this lens I would bring it to 11mm and then back off just a tad to get the better picture quality. I have also played with these on a full frame camera and only got vignetting at the wider focal lengths. If you can get the 11-20 for $50 more as the OP suggests, I would also go that route.

Side note for anyone else: Tokina had an older AT-X PRO 11-20 f/2.8 released around 2015 and discontinued in 2020. The newer model is the atx-i 11-20 f/2.8, which is the one on sale for $350 everywhere. Reviews look excellent with only minor gripes about vignetting when shooting at the widest angle and maximum aperture, and chromatic aberration in high contrast situations (dark subject, bright background) - both of which can be pretty easily corrected in post. Also despite being out for nearly 2 and a half years, I wasn't able to find any available used. That's a good sign, it means people are actually keeping them.
Ordered one today, we'll see how it goes on Wednesday!
