This is the best price I've seen in 2 years. It's a good saw, but it has limitations like no dado stack compatibility. It's the only non china made saw under 500 as well. I would consider spending a little extra for a 10" if you have the space and money.

Well I thought the point of this is portability? So regardless if you have the space isn't this aimed at those who want the smallest footprint while on jobsites? I've been looking for a more portable option as my back is begging me to stop taking my heavy table saw on job sites.

There are 10" saws that are about the same size and weight. The craftsman and kobalt come to mind but it's been a while since I looked at them side by side. The fence system on those isn't nearly as good though in my opinion.

I saw the new sawstop at Rockler the other day and think it's about the same size too, but obviously in a different price point.

Good price. I bought 10" dw745 2years ago right before it covert to this 8.5" model. The fence system is really good and accurate imo. For dado I use Oshlun sbj-0830 8" blade as alternative. Not sure if it also works for this model

This is an really good price. If I hadn't just bought a 10" I would have jumped on this. This is the best jobsite 8.5" on the market. It has better features than a lot of the 10" jobsite table saws. Very strong motor, stronger than some of the 10" saws. If you are looking to get a starter table saw, this is a killer deal. The next step up from this price / value wise is either the 10" Skill for around $350, or the 10" Dewalt (which is amazing, but a pricey $650 (It's also best in class though).

What are the advantages of 10"? or what am I missing with an 8"?

On an 8" you miss dado capability and are restricted at about 2" on wood. So no 4x4.

I bought the ryobi circular saw and I'm about to buy a guide $70 to straight cut some trim boards.

With this price seems like I just spend $200 more for a real table saw to straight cut. In for one.

Hmm. Looks like this was 289 with stand just last month. I'm in no rush, is the stand worth holding out for?

It's convenient but shouldn't be a show stopper. There's a ton of stand options. That said if you don't have a stand it might be worth waiting.

Of course it is if you can wait. Those make the ultimate onsite workbench even you don't use it for the saw itself. Solid as a rock.

I didn't sleep well last night and I read this as "campsite table saw." 🤷
