I'm happy with mine. I was really worried my girlfriend would hate making tea with it because it pours slow, but she likes it. Obviously it's good for pour-over but I need it to do both, and it has.
I didn't expect to use the timer on it but I like it.
$130 is too much for a kettle. I'd buy it again.
I own this and it works good but it isn't a big game changer or anything though. I originally paid $127 for the black version from Costco in July 2021. I have a cheaper kettle I like better now though. I wouldn't pay more than $40 if I were to buy it again.
Great looking Kettle, just keep in mind it only holds about 3 cups of water max. Also, the pouring time requires a bit of patience

This is obviously a crazy luxury item. I received one as a gift, and people complement it all the time when they see it on the counter.

But you did pay more than $40 right?
Lol...thought the same thing. Looking for something like this but as soon as I saw the price it was a pass.

Not trying to make a snide comment here. That is not my intent. How does this differ functionally from the $9.99 hot water kettle I have from WalMart that doesn't have the low, looping spout?

I have one of these and it works well. A lot of people just say get a regular boiler and you can do that but this isn't marketed to those who will do that. This is for the nerds that need precise temps, we know who we are. Ours gets constant use between my wife with coffee and myself making tea and we've had zero issues after 3 years of heavy use. IMO the added cost for the wooden handle and lid topper is excessive but if you're into that then this sale is perfect.

Aldi had something similar on shelves last week (probably still there now) for $30. I suspect this is nicer but in case you're seeking a budget option.

Great kettle. I have the Bonavita as well, the Fellow has lots of small improvements thank make it worthwhile. The flow rate from the spout is perfect for coffee, might be slow for tea if you're just trying to fill the cup as quickly as you can
I use the Bonavita and it's been fine for pour overs. Could you share more about the improvements you see that made the Fellow one worthwhile over the Bonavita?

I own 2, they're wonderful. Boils faster than other electric kettles, but what you're paying for here is the beautiful design. It's does pour slowly - by design. It's a gooseneck kettle which are made for pour over coffee.

You can buy replacement lids ($15) and handles ($30) on their website

You should not have to replace parts on a $100+ kettle. Esp due to design faults.

My $40 kettle has no issues pouring, rusting, etc... and heats water up very well.

I am assuming its this?

Looks pretty nice, esp for the price.

Note the improvements are entirely first world luxuries Smilie In order of importance to me
1. The big one for me - Auto Hold. As soon as you put the kettle down on the base the heating/hold resumes. On the Bonavita, you have to press the button once or twice to resume. If you're doing pour overs, with multiple pours, this make a big difference.
2. No overshooting set temperature. This is especially frustrating when resuming heat/hold. On the Bonavita, the water temperature tends to overshoot the set temperature by 1-3 degrees before it cuts out, and you now have to wait for the kettle to cool to the set temp. On the EKG, the heating slows down as it approaches the set temp and slowly creeps up to the temp
3. Flow rate from the EKG spout is (slower) better suited for pour overs. Bonavita has a more universal flow rate so it can work well for tea etc. as well
4. It's quieter
5. This is minor and makes no practical difference to me - the EKG heats up a little faster even with the slow down/creep up to set temp
6. Timer - some people find it useful. I don't like the interface (too easy to shut down the kettle instead of turning on the timer) so I never use it

This isn't even close to a deal. Have one with the same features and a similar look from Aldi for $30. Can't believe this is a +20 "deal." So many suckers out there.

Edit: looks like someone posted it above. It was marked down to $30 (from $40) at my store.

I would stay away from the fellow stag kettles. I will admit they look great, but the product quality is disappointing at best. Especially disappointing, considering the price. I got mine as a Christmas gift last year and the base only lasted a month with light use. I had to hit the power button 5+ times before I would hit the button just right and the kettle would finally turn on. Very loose tolerances and I hate that I can't have pre set temperatures. The Bonavita is a much better/functional kettle.

That sounds like a warranty claim. Have you tried reaching out to Fellow? Their customer service is usually quite stellar.

The gooseneck makes it easier to control the pour (amount of water and where it lands) to evenly saturate the coffee grounds.

The temperature control is more precise.

All of this is important for pour overs.

How important and whether it is worth the price to you depends on how much you enjoy coffee and discern the differences.
