I've used one for several years and found that the rubber gasket was becoming less effective and even started leaking. I got a replacement gasket and it worked like new. I see a two pack of replacment gaskets on amazon for about $7, so you could probably save your money rather than buying a new aeropress.
This makes a great coffee and you can't go wrong with it!! However, if you're looking for espresso, this will not do it.

I recommend using the inverted method when brewing with this. Google "Aeropress inverted method" for details and instructions.

I have a keurig (terrible coffee with convenience), Aeropress, Chemex, Hario dripper, Gaggia Classic espresso machine

While the Aeropress makes great coffee… my go to everyday is an even cheaper option with a plastic Hario V60 ($9) (forget the ceramic as it draws heat away from the brew). Once you get your method down you can make outstanding coffee!!

Hario V60 Plastic Coffee Dripper, Size 02, Clear https://a.co/d/inunRWX

I recommend the bleached non-tabbed filters:

Hario V60 Paper Coffee Filters, Size 02, White, 40ct Boxed https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BLNP...th=1&psc=1
I'm not a coffee snob, but I love this thing. Makes a quick cup of coffee, and makes crappy coffee taste better without the grit or bitterness.

Used to use a French press (hate cleaning a coffee maker), but this has been our go to lately.

Do you make espresso or coffee with this .. any thoughts on how the quality of the espresso is with this .. i usually make lattes and currently use nespresso OL. thinking on this one as we will have little more control on the quality and quantity..
Based on just googling, I read the aeropress was the best "espresso" maker when you didn't have a machine to do so. Other methods made valiant efforts, but the aeropress had the best results

Self proclaimed coffee snob here. Aeropress is the only way I make drip coffee. I've tried them all. I use a Prismo attachment so I don't have to mess with the inverted method. I make 250ml cups, you can't go a whole lot bigger than that. In my experience, no other brewing method comes close to the consistency and quality of an aeropress. I use the Hoffman / Jonathan Gagne method.

There's a pretentious coffee snob on YouTube that has done several experiments with the aeropress. He even has a pressure transducer installed so he can measure the force applied. He determined you simply cannot achieve pressures required to make a proper espresso, even after literally standing on it. What he found was pressing harder was more likely to push the grounds aside and create direct water paths that would reduce extraction efficiency. His recommendation was to only use the weight of your hand to press.

My trials at home tend to agree. Slower push makes a stronger and more complex cup with less risk of sediment. For a single cup, aeropress is hard to beat, but takes some getting used to. My boomer mom found it to be too complicated and said it "exploded" on her counter and made a mess. Still scratching my head at that one. Anyway, nearly daily user here for the past 3 or so years. If you struggle to program the time on your microwave, consider something more user friendly.

I bought one about a week ago. I find it hard to push down on. Is that standard or did I get a defective one?

I use inverted and to keep it steady I put the aero press upside down in my unused French press. It tasted so much better than the Keurig! Less sludgy than the French press. And I am not a coffee snob. I bought the Breville Baristo Pro because of Slickdeal-I didn't know I liked espresso. I make an americano with Lavazza beans in the morning. Lunch time-ish I make a decaf Kicking Horse americano, and at night I make a decaf in the Aeropress. I guess becoming a coffee drinker was my New Year's resolution, and I'm starting a half month early! ;p

Did you really find this type of coffee maker makes the better coffee teste than the French Coffee maker or Coffee Dripper does without reading and hearing from the others?

Great price for this coffee maker. The slightly smaller "Go" travel version is on sale for $35.
The Go is currently $29.89 at REI as well.

Depends if what you like. I think a French press leaves more coffee ground so the result is somewhat bitter. I like that. I thought this or coffee drip with a Melitta filter very comparable and as I said I like the bitter part.

If the teste is the same, why not go for the simple and cheaper such as the Coffee Dripper?

Watch this video from James Hoffman about making milk drinks like lattes, cappuccinos, or flat whites with an Aeropress or a moka pot:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z...xBjA&t=75s

I make a latte or cappuccino every day using his Aeropress technique. I froth hot milk with this little frother from ikea:

https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/prod...-30301167/

This technique makes delicious espresso-like milk drinks. yummy

Have these gotten more expensive? I feel like they have been $30 for years. I bought one, lost it in a move, and bought a replacement. I don't believe I paid more than $30 for either of those and that was 5+ years ago.

The price to plastic ratio of this product is very impressive.

Is there any reason to replace an old Aeropress if it's still working?

Mine's several years old now but still works great. Any concerns with the plastic/rubber parts degrading over time?
The original release version (10+ years old at this point) had BPA (it was _not_ BPA-free).

The newer ones are supposed to be less likely to leech problematic chemicals into your brew.

What probably happened was she used the inverted method and flipped it over with too much air in the top. That'll heat the air, expanding it and pushing the piston up a bit... setting one up for disaster if anything's a little bit off. So ... I like to put the filter on, then push the air out before flipping.

It's a nice ritual for coffee making.
