Not as common. Occationally you'll see one of the Happy Cards at $7.50 bonus for a $50 card or Paypal will have a $10 bonus for a $100 card. Here in the northeast a local supermarket had a $10 gift card for the supermarket with a $50 card. Just keep your eyes open.
Off course the best deal I have seen was many years ago from Save-a-Lot. $25 gift card for $15.

For those with Amex, check your offers. My business cards both had $50 back on $250 purchase at Lowes. Went in store to buy a $250 Lowes gift card and received notice that I'd redeemed the offer (though have not seen the $50 credit hit my account yet).

This should work on any physical gift card in store so long as you load it with at least $250, or a combination of cards that add up to at least $250.

Won't work for gift cards online as the Lowes site hands you off to a 3rd party site.

My order for two cards went through just fine. American Express Cash Preferred cards also give 6% back at supermarkets (including Kroger online). Lowes gift cards can also stack with 10% off coupons you can find online or that you get with a military discount. 26% off plus all of the fuel points make this a truly slick deal.
