Using them for 2 years - very unhappy.
1. Every couple months hub will just stop working and need to be power switched
2. camera quality are sub par - cann get a clear picture of the porch pirate's face
3. worst one - the app is horrible. From the moment you get notification that someone is on your front porch (notification is almost instant - good) you will need 20 seconds before you can get live feed from camera on your phone. And that's on fast WiFi connection. And only if app works at all - often (every couple days) it just won't work - no recordings, won't play recordings, thumbnail preview on camera can be few weeks old
4. speaking something from camera speaker - plus another 10-15 seconds if it will work at all.
I'm so pissed with them. There is only thing they do good - giving you a recording of someone stealing your package while you deprerately trying to make app work.

you pay for cheaper cameras up front then lose in the long run by paying monthly subscriptions.

Eu.fy for this reason is a better investment.

I wonder 1080p is enough quality for viewing
Yes, it is. Cops caught my neighbors burglar using my 720 camera footage.

I have the base station which has a USB port to record local videos. Do I need cloud storage?
Cloud storage subscription really makes the alerts usable. You don't need it but without it only app can be signed in at a time and the alerts just say "motion detected." With the subscription you get smarter notifications, quick view access, and multiple accounts can get those alerts.

I was really into what Eufy was providing, had a 4 camera system in my cart to check out and then stumbled upon all the security issues they have been having lately. It's not worth handing over un-encrypted video footage to anyone that can directly access the S3 bucket where they store it IMO.

I had to pivot to try and find something else that would work for me, this deal (3 cameras) will get me started, I plan to purchase a base and keep the video footage stored locally on a USB drive.

I do not plan on using Arlo's cloud storage, so this should be OK for my use case. YMMV.

How often does it need a charge and how can we charge these when on vacation?

Are these for sure the same as the ones on Arlo's website? The three pack there has a model number of VMC2330, while the ones at Walmart say VMC2320.

I have an older set of Arlo cameras that are pretty good. I get cloud storage with no fee--but it only lasts 7 days or something, and I think the setup only allows 5 cameras on the app. Is my plan some kind of grandfathered thing of the past?

I was thinking about getting these to try to add them on, but I don't want to pay monthly for cloud storage. So maybe it is a pass.

I have no internet service at a remote property where I'd like to use these other than when I go there with my hotspot. Can I use them with NAS storage of some type?

Different.
VMC2330 has the spotlight.
VMC2320 does not have the spotlight.

Do these cameras require a hub to work with Apple HomeKit?
