Hmmm wondering if this is actually worth to buy set, even for a beginner.

Look up some reviews on YouTube.
I recently bought an Indio Cali for my daughter, and I'm amazed by how much guitar this is for the price. I have no idea about the amp, but the guitar is significantly better than most of the Fender Squires I've seen.

I bought fender squire package after I heard the opposite.

The entry Monoprice/Indio guitars are alright, QC could be better. They are fine for beginners if you get lucky and they don't arrive with sharp frets or too high action. On the flip side they are solid modding platforms if you're looking to experiment.

I have that amp. For the price, it's pretty good. This is a slickdeal indeed. I would have bought this if I didn't have two Telecasters already.

I think I bought this for my daughter this past summer for the same price but completely forgot about it… so guess who just came through with a great Christmas gift? Haha.

I bought an Indio LP derivative. It arrived unharmed, but unplayable. The neck was bowed backward so not a single string worked on any fret. I'm not an expert, but I paid a local luthier to set it up, and now it's playable, looks nice. That cost me something like $125. This is probably best for kids who might give up after a week or two, or for someone who wants to mod it. The basic construction of the instrument I got is good.

Grabbed the guitar without amp for $70 during the last sale.

Came with a really nice gig bag and was totally playable out of the box for novice me.

I filed the frets down to a "Squire" quality in a few minutes as they came a bit pokey.

I got an indio tele clone a few years ago just to have one I could throw around and carry places. Surprisingly good quality. Sure, it's not an amazing guitar but it's perfectly serviceable and great for a beginner to learn. Might have to file down a couple of frets and tighten a few screws, but it's similar quality to the entry level squires and for quite a bit less money.

I would buy this over the squire bullet series in a heartbeat. You aren't getting significantly better quality/QC until you spend a lot more money on a classic vibe or the like.

The Monoprice guitars are definitely better quality guitars than Squiers. I'd put them in between Squiers and Mexican Fenders, though the three Indio guitars I have came better setup than the two Mexican Fenders I have. The only thing that really needed some love on the Indio was the fretboard being dry. Five minutes oiling the board and another 10 minutes polishing the frets, and they played better than my much more expensive Made In Mexico Fenders. That said, the Squier is perfectly fine for a beginner. Just get the guitar set up by a professional if you don't know how to do it, as even much more expensive guitars aren't setup perfectly from the factory.

One of the things I have seen happen over my 45 years of playing guitar is the outsourcing to foreign countries, en masse. It's not like it didn't happen 40 years ago but the sheer AMOUNT now is stunning. The facts are Gibson outsources to Korea for Epiphone, Fender outsources to Mexico for the expensive ones and Malaysia for the Squires, PRS outsources to .. I believe China, I may be wrong .. for the SE models. And I'm quite sure should any of the aforementioned manufacturers have a distinct need for any particular model due to high demand, it goes straight to China for ludicrous mass production at scale.

So, with all those things being fact, this package is quite a good deal. You can say, "Well, it's just for a kid". Or, "I got one to just mess around with and not care so I use it for travel or gigging or whatever". But you could pretty much say that with the $849 Fender Player series or the $849 Epiphone Les Paul Standards. Because they all come from the same place. Same woods. Same luthiers. Same quality-control.

So, yeah ... this is a good deal and I would suggest it. The reason being .. the next step on the rung is $5900 for a guitar built in Nashville by American hands. That's quite a leap.

As someone who knows nothing, can I get this and use headphones to mess around and not disturb my kids(if they don't take over)? Can I setup or whatever is needed on my own to get going on this? Any ongoing care/expenses?

I need to file the edges of the frets. Can you share what files you used, directions, and precautions (as to not damage the neck, etc.)? Appreciated! Thanks.

This is a weird deal. It's not bad. It's just not great. Selling off that amp is probably not overall better than just getting the guitar, when on sale. Here or otherwise. Depending on return policy etc.. And you may get parts, colors you like better.

And no one needs a practice amp if that's all it does, Your (newer) phone will do guitar practice with a $2 adapter, headphones and stuff you already have.

If we're lucky the Monoprice $200 25lb 1x12 Celestion all tube and reverb, effect loop sockets, combo will be $202 sale plus % off in January. Or maybe used; but there's more higher used prices than some lower. And you gotta check it out.

And the <$40 (Wish app plus coupons etc...) Cube Baby effects pedal, with amp and cab IR's it pairs very well with the tube amp. Giving headphone and line out, USB audio DI interface computer DAW recording in without noise. Boost, noise cut EQ and rich range of any tones most effects. 3 preset foot switch for desk or floor. Manual mode is all easy knobs, just like the tube amp. You can turn up a health range of distortion rock tones by upping the gain, volume in balance. And on the Cube Baby more gain by turning the amp knob around just the same. An the same gain knob for each also for fine setting. including famous amps and their channels. Along with the cab IR knob's for the 4x12 Mesa etc Image Response. Covering the full spectrum of cleans to ultra metal. And mixes tube amp preamp tubes gain level with Cube Baby amp IR's healthy digital preamp. Fun to compare and AB. What else is there?

Heck, if you're gifting then you could buy a $60 Strat plus the <$40 Cube Baby instead; even without a power amplified speaker. They could plug in their headphone to the Cube Baby. And it has Blue Tooth-IN for your backing tracks etc... Your band in one pedal box. Charged for days and days; before you insert you USB charger for just a few minutes. No multi power wires and other patches needed! And you can connect it to anything with amplified speaker. Like a BT speaker aux port. A kids Karaoke machine. Computer speaker if nice. Old stereo at a garage sale. Stuff in your basement. LOL. Until you get a combo amp, slick deal; that's portable, can play loud with a drummer at locals for that. And does perfectly, at extremely quiet room levels in your bedroom also. It's only 25lbs and the Cube Baby almost nothing. It's solid, about a pound. Very well built and like tank.
