- You can say "Alexa, thank my driver" or "Alexa, tell my driver thank you" using your Echo device or Alexa on the Alexa App and Amazon App on your smartphone to thank your driver for the most recent delivery made in the last 14 days.
2. Which delivery drivers are eligible to receive $5 per "thank you"?
- Amazon Flex Delivery Partners and Delivery Associates employed by Amazon Delivery Service Partners who deliver Amazon packages in the United States are eligible for this promotion, and will receive $5 for the first 1 million "thank yous" received, starting December 21. Deliveries by other partners are not eligible for the $5 promotion, but we will share customers' "thank yous" with those partners. Deliveries are only eligible for this promotion for 14 days after the delivery is made.
3. What happens if I thank my driver for the same delivery multiple times?
- You can thank your driver for the same delivery multiple times, however, the driver associated with the delivery will only receive a maximum of $5 per delivery.
4. How will I know that the driver will receive the $5 when I say thank you? Will I be charged?
- To confirm that your "thank you" has been processed and $5 will be sent to the driver, Alexa will respond, "Glad you enjoyed your most recent delivery. Since you shared your appreciation with your driver, as a special thanks this holiday season, your driver will receive an extra $5 at no cost to you. This promotion is for a limited time only." You will not be charged anything when you thank your driver.
5. I thanked my driver in the first promotion that ended on December 8. Can I participate again?
- Yes, you can participate in the promotion again.
6. I don't own an Echo device. Can I still thank my driver?
- Yes, you can thank your driver using Alexa on the Amazon App or the Alexa App on your smartphone. Start by opening either the Amazon App or the Alexa App, and tap on the Alexa button in the bottom right corner of the screen to speak. Once microphone permissions are enabled, you can tap the Alexa button again and say, "Alexa, Thank My Driver."
7. What if I don't own a smartphone?
- At this time, only customers who have access to an Echo device, the Amazon App, or the Alexa App on their smartphone can access the feature.
8. What happens once an additional 1 million "thank yous" are received after December 21?
- The $5 per "thank you" promotion will end after another 1 million "thank yous" are received. You will still be able to thank your driver using Alexa and we will share your appreciation with our delivery partners.

While I agree and sympathize with most of the unhappy people griping about their terrible delivery experiences in these posts, I have to remind you that Amazon uses many different avenues of recruitment for their drivers, we are not one unified force and should not be grouped together like that. Most of the gray van and box truck drivers are 3rd party contractors and get severely overworked, and their frustration is reflected in their work. Others (myself included) are gig drivers who use our own vehicles, and for the most part, have very chill scheduled blocks that we choose ourselves. I stopped doing big box warehouse deliveries and exclusively do Amazon Fresh warehouse deliveries due to the low number of stops per route and the extra tips. Regular package deliveries do not include tips but have a higher base pay. The system is not perfect, and most drivers do not follow delivery instructions due to the sheer volume of packages they are required to deliver a day.
I have a covered porch and space at the back against the house. Yet they leavboxes hanging at the edge of the steps, exposed to the elements and full view of the street.
I'd be happy to help their cause if they could deliver properly, but it's a rarity no matter how I spell out delivery instructions. They'll walk 20 yards to my steps but once there, won't go that extra 5ft. Can't even remember the last time one left something inside the storm door even. Just abysmal.

- Rarely if ever do I see my driver, or get the same driver
- That is, If I get a driver at all. There was an incident where an amazon driver got clipped by gunfire (live near a bad area but luckily the driver was A-Ok given the circumstance). Which understandably raises the question of safety for their drivers. With all that said, Amazon has pushed out my shipping to 3-4 days for prime and I typically get a UPS truck... so why would I tip their drivers?
- Amazon is one of the biggest corporations in the world, and they can't tip their own drivers out?
- If you really wanted to, you could just cash tip your driver, which would probably actually go into their pocket.
I did this a couple times the first day they were doing it, but my understanding is they reached their maximum within the first 24 hours.
