75" U6H has an IPS panel according to Rtings. 65" U6H has a VA panel. For full-array local dimming with only 32 to 48 dimming zones it is best to go with a VA panel. For full-array local dimming to work properly on an IPS panel you would need at least 720 dimming zones.

I got this deal a week ago, set it up for my parents as a Christmas gift and was not impressed with the contrast/black levels. Color and brightness was good, but I'm returning it to Walmart and grabbing the TCL 65S555. They're having a few issues with the GoogleTV platform too, so switching them back to Roku is definitely better, and at $400 open box excellent at Best Buy, it's a much better deal.

This a good deal? Going to buy a 60-75 tv in the next couple days. Replacing a 20year old plasma so doesn't need to be cutting edge or anything just for the in-laws watching tv / movies.

Don't get the 75". It uses a different panel.

Does the 75" have problems then?

I see that the 65" is recommended by Rtings for their budget TV pick.

Ok I have some knowledge about the 50in U6HF. It has far better motion handling than the U6GR I also own. People have said that the U6H has similar motion handling to the U6GR so I feel that either I've hit the panel lottery with the U6HF or it is just better. The one thing I noticed with the U6HF is that it has pretty incorrect color(too green). I had to change the color and I think I've gotten pretty close to accurate or at least pleasing (by my eye anyway)

TCL 5 series is comparable to Hisense 7 series. Would only be a fair comparison to compare the U7H to that TCL.

58" sized TVs always use VA panels and is most likely a panel sourced from HKC

I got this from BB on Black Friday. The panel has issues and I am not impressed. I do not need a lot for what I am using it for, but the quality of the one I got is not acceptable.

excuse my lack of knowledge on the subject matter, but is that a good thing or a bad thing relatively?

A VA panel is better than an IPS panel for a 58" TV with 32 or less local dimming zones. HKC panels tend to be used in the lower-end Samsung TVs and never in the high-end Samsung TVs.

This or the Hisense U6GR for the same price? The U6GR seems to have a higher peak brightness but is a year older.
