Hello, I hope you're well.

Tesla is offering certain customers a $7,500 discount and 10,000 Supercharger credits if they take delivery of a Model 3 or Model Y by 12/31/2022. Check your text message; here is an example.

Yesterday, I posted about how the Model 3 RWD and Model Y will qualify for the full Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) $7,500 if you take delivery in January or February 2023 (of course, if Tesla runs promotions or drop prices in early 2023, there could be better savings then). This is better in several major ways:
  • Lower sales tax because this is a discount, not a tax credit
  • You get the discount immediately, instead of having to wait until 2024 when you file taxes for 2023
  • You get 10,000 Supercharger credits, which is valued at between $500 and $900
  • If you're financing, you don't have to pay interest on the $7,500
  • (For some people) If you didn't qualify for the tax credit due to being over the income limit, you don't have to worry about that at all
  • 12/29/2022 UPDATE: IRS published its list [irs.gov], and some vehicles will not qualify for the tax credit that starts in 2023; of note, Model Y 5-Seat does not qualify because it passes the $55,000 limit, whereas the Model Y 7-Seat does qualify because it is below the $80,000 limit.
  • 01/04/2022 UPDATE: The 10,000 Supercharger miles (which is actually 4,000 kWH) have been added to the Tesla App. Check Settings > Loot Box.
Author's Note: This is a deal thread, not a political thread or a thread for people who dislike Tesla. Please refrain from going off topic or thumbing down this thread. You have every right to hate Tesla and its CEO, but please don't thumb down a thread related to Tesla simply because of that. Slickdeals is a deal-hunting forum above all else, and I'd greatly appreciate it if we treat threads in Hot Deals as deal threads and nothing else. Thank you.

I hope this helps,
Tofu Vic

They slashed the hell out of the trade in values on Model 3's so be careful. Offered me $7K less than the KBB trade value when I checked, so basically the $7500 discount isn't really all that useful if you're trading an existing Model 3.

Base Model 3 seems to be a good deal though if you get a decent trade value or are buying without a trade.
Trade in prices in general have dropped like a rock.

I'm currently waiting (48 hours now) for my finalized trade-in offer from Tesla. The range they gave me was low, but almost identical to Carmax.

Not sure Tesla can still raise prices much after 2022 even with Fed EV discount
demand is slowed. so you would see some discount plus fed tax credits. probably around 10k savings from last month.
If you are in need of car , this is far better deal than dealing with dealers overpriced MSRP cars that are not available anytime soon !! eg. 2023 prius has excellent reviews will be selling for over 35k however it wont be available until April-June timeframe for delivery . buying tesla 3 base or long range is a better option.

Well if you want to end up with a car that's more expensive, less value and lot worse build quality than Tesla is a better option. Otherwise wait.

All custom-build Model 3 now show Jan 2023 delivery window.

I don't see any Y or 3 in stock within 200 miles of Dallas, YMMV.

Looks like the window is closing fast on this one...

Looks like I am extremely lucky in Chicago. Woke up at 6 am today. Ordered Model Y. Completed registration and scheduled appointment to pickup car at Tesla showroom next Tuesday!! There were only 3 cars available in inventory and all gone in few minutes. Keep checking… Good luck!!

False. GM cut the 2023 Bolt base price while doing so they, themselves, decided they will offer goodwill program that will offer some adjustment for anyone that bought MY20, MY21, MY22 Bolt in 2022 just to get them off the lots. This was on account of how poorly Bolts sold so how few adjustments they will actually have to make on cars already sold.

FALSE, they did not sell poorly. They were on a sales hold due to the LG battery assembly issue, everyone that got the battery replaced got a new warranty on the battery like they just bought the car. GM offered a rebate of $5900 for the 2022 models and issued a $5900 refund check to anyone that had purchased one in the prior 6 months.

Heh they sold less than 400 of them in Q1 2022. And the refund on price drop applied to any MY20, MY21 or MY22 Bolt sold in 2022. Cars that sell well down have 3 years of MYs still sitting on the lots….

Models manufactured in Fremont are more susceptible to QC issues but are easily resolved. Just go through the car thoroughly when taking delivery. There are delivery checklists available online to make sure nothing is overlooked.
Sucks you have to do that. Never had to do that in all the years I've bought cars. Tesla questionable

Can you image any other luxury brand doing that and their customers make such ridiculous excuses? They would be laughing stock. True devotion.

After a while of no inventory in NJ, A long range with 18" popped up at 6pm last night coming out of church. I grabbed it. Keep checking.

I don't think you have to do it with any car. It's just a good idea to check the entire car, with any car you buy. It just seems Tesla gives you less hassle to repair small issues. Toyota is having a crap load of QC issues. American cars never stopped having QC issues. Nothing new.
