Hello, I hope you're well.

Tesla is offering certain customers a $7,500 discount and 10,000 Supercharger credits if they take delivery of a Model 3 or Model Y by 12/31/2022. Check your text message; here is an example.

Yesterday, I posted about how the Model 3 RWD and Model Y will qualify for the full Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) $7,500 if you take delivery in January or February 2023 (of course, if Tesla runs promotions or drop prices in early 2023, there could be better savings then). This is better in several major ways:
  • Lower sales tax because this is a discount, not a tax credit
  • You get the discount immediately, instead of having to wait until 2024 when you file taxes for 2023
  • You get 10,000 Supercharger credits, which is valued at between $500 and $900
  • If you're financing, you don't have to pay interest on the $7,500
  • (For some people) If you didn't qualify for the tax credit due to being over the income limit, you don't have to worry about that at all
  • 12/29/2022 UPDATE: IRS published its list [irs.gov], and some vehicles will not qualify for the tax credit that starts in 2023; of note, Model Y 5-Seat does not qualify because it passes the $55,000 limit, whereas the Model Y 7-Seat does qualify because it is below the $80,000 limit.
  • 01/04/2022 UPDATE: The 10,000 Supercharger miles (which is actually 4,000 kWH) have been added to the Tesla App. Check Settings > Loot Box.
Author's Note: This is a deal thread, not a political thread or a thread for people who dislike Tesla. Please refrain from going off topic or thumbing down this thread. You have every right to hate Tesla and its CEO, but please don't thumb down a thread related to Tesla simply because of that. Slickdeals is a deal-hunting forum above all else, and I'd greatly appreciate it if we treat threads in Hot Deals as deal threads and nothing else. Thank you.

I hope this helps,
Tofu Vic

Go on any car enthusiast forum and they have a checklist for respective models.

How about you send me $20 for every forum thread new-car-checklist I post here, for something other than a Tesla?

uploaded pics earlier this afternoon for my trade..its still pending and haven't seen any price yet...am I missing something?
Yeah, here's the issue:

I got a text saying my trade in offer was updated (yesterday). But the app didn't have any new info in it. I texted Tesla, and they call me and said 'since you're still missing info [insurance and accepting financing terms] the app won't update with your trade-in offer'.

Well my insurance is closed for the weekend/holiday, so I'll try again tomorrow, and maybe that will 'release' the trade in value for me to see. The reps you talk to on the phone can't see your trade in value, only that it's been 'released'. Even though you can't see it.

My pickup date is not until Dec 30th, so I have a few days to get it sorted.

Generic copy/paste checklists can be found on any forum. Model specific checklist of quality issues is Tesla thing.

I intend to update my insurance as well tomorrow and then will see if anything changes...if they gimme some funny number for my trade... thinking will go 3rd party route..

so $20 each, right? We can limit you to $100 if you'd feel better about minimizing your losses.

Saw this deal on the night of Dec 21, ordered a model y that was in inventory on Dec 22 and picked it up on Dec 24.

I was going to wait until 2023 to order a tesla to get the new tax incentive but this is much better.

The $7500 comes off the price now, not off your taxes in 2024 and you get 10,000 supercharger miles.

When I picked up the model y on dec 24 there were many people there getting cars.

There are probably no cars left in inventory now.

Where are you located?
I placed my order today. The app shows estimated delivery between Dec 29-Dec 31.

I said $1000 per. Looks like you can't produce any.
