Hello, I hope you're well.

Tesla is offering certain customers a $7,500 discount and 10,000 Supercharger credits if they take delivery of a Model 3 or Model Y by 12/31/2022. Check your text message; here is an example.

Yesterday, I posted about how the Model 3 RWD and Model Y will qualify for the full Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) $7,500 if you take delivery in January or February 2023 (of course, if Tesla runs promotions or drop prices in early 2023, there could be better savings then). This is better in several major ways:
  • Lower sales tax because this is a discount, not a tax credit
  • You get the discount immediately, instead of having to wait until 2024 when you file taxes for 2023
  • You get 10,000 Supercharger credits, which is valued at between $500 and $900
  • If you're financing, you don't have to pay interest on the $7,500
  • (For some people) If you didn't qualify for the tax credit due to being over the income limit, you don't have to worry about that at all
  • 12/29/2022 UPDATE: IRS published its list [irs.gov], and some vehicles will not qualify for the tax credit that starts in 2023; of note, Model Y 5-Seat does not qualify because it passes the $55,000 limit, whereas the Model Y 7-Seat does qualify because it is below the $80,000 limit.
  • 01/04/2022 UPDATE: The 10,000 Supercharger miles (which is actually 4,000 kWH) have been added to the Tesla App. Check Settings > Loot Box.
Author's Note: This is a deal thread, not a political thread or a thread for people who dislike Tesla. Please refrain from going off topic or thumbing down this thread. You have every right to hate Tesla and its CEO, but please don't thumb down a thread related to Tesla simply because of that. Slickdeals is a deal-hunting forum above all else, and I'd greatly appreciate it if we treat threads in Hot Deals as deal threads and nothing else. Thank you.

I hope this helps,
Tofu Vic

If anyone is still looking to buy you can still get it if the inventory shows available to pick up. I just booked and got everything done in one hour in Bay Area. Waiting for Delivery appointment.
I just found out a friend of a friend at the bay area also got their appointment delayed few hours ago. He's told to go straight to the Fremont factory instead of the dealership. He went to Fremont site, but Tesla has no idea where is his car. He was told to go back to Fremont later tonight to check again. According to him, his car was just being built last night! I guess Tesla is really trying to make the year end numbers.

Now i started seeing Model 3 available in stock in some of the places in nor cal.
BTW, based on my ViN decode, it is a 2023 model. There has been lot of rumors about the new 2023 Model 3, does that mean these new ones are the updated 2023 model, or just the same as last year?
The new bettery cells are currently being tested therefore that is highly unlikely. As far as the facelift that is just a rumor if I'm not mistaken.

Why don't you just play along and maybe they'll deliver you the car Monday at today's price and you get the tax credit too. Make lemonade…
Yes, I'm just chilling and waiting for updates. At this point, my new year's eve dinner plan has been ruin, but whatever. If they can't deliver today, it will be interesting to see what's going to happen with the discount. I have diligently fulfilled my part of the contract and they took my money already.....

I can provide my delivery experience. The first MY they assigned go me has the cargo door plastic piece not mounted also there were several scratches on the roof and the body. The service agent took the car back and said he wont be able to fixed it last night and would switch me to a white interior. I said ok then in my Tesla app it asked me to pay the 1K difference. I ignored thought it might have been free due to the defect and people receiving free upgrade earlier in the month. But that was not the case. The car they switch me into cant be inspected due to visibility(arrived at Tesla 2PM and waited till 7PM to get the new car). I asked the agent if possible to move indoor to check before accept the car. They said no. Ok so i accepted the new car in the Tesla app. Later when i arrived home, i found multiple scratches on the door and parking light and there was no temporary plate provide at delivery and the car was removed from my Tesla app when the delivery agent was messing with insurance for the new VIN. Sigh this is my experience. Hope other received better service.

Hahaha that's cute. When it comes to taxes CA doesn't mess around. It will be taxed at the purchase price.

Did you actually pick up the car? I just got word from my friend that he was able to pick up his car at the Fremont factory. In the meantime, I'm still waiting for my car. My appointment has been pushed to 9:00PM, then again to 9:30PM. The dealership closes at 10PM, they are giving me 30 minutes to take delivery! That's barely enough time just to finish the paperwork.

They couldn't even answer my basic question - where is my car?

Latest text from them saying that the delivery must happen today in order to get the $7500. If they can't deliver the car to me, I'm SOL even though they took my money already and I did all my part.

When i picked up mine yesterday they were saying that the dealership will be open until 1AM in the morning on the 31st.
So Iam surprised that some of the showrooms are already closed!

Do it faster... Chat on Tesla site and check if it is still OK to go and pick up. Plenty of available near Fremont in Bay Area.
