Hello, I hope you're well.
Tesla is offering certain customers a $7,500 discount and 10,000 Supercharger credits if they take delivery of a Model 3 or Model Y by 12/31/2022. Check your text message;
here is an example.
Yesterday,
I posted about how the Model 3 RWD and Model Y will qualify for the full Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) $7,500 if you take delivery in January or February 2023 (of course, if Tesla runs promotions or drop prices in early 2023, there could be better savings then). This is better in several major ways:
- Lower sales tax because this is a discount, not a tax credit
- You get the discount immediately, instead of having to wait until 2024 when you file taxes for 2023
- You get 10,000 Supercharger credits, which is valued at between $500 and $900
- If you're financing, you don't have to pay interest on the $7,500
- (For some people) If you didn't qualify for the tax credit due to being over the income limit, you don't have to worry about that at all
- 12/29/2022 UPDATE: IRS published its list [irs.gov], and some vehicles will not qualify for the tax credit that starts in 2023; of note, Model Y 5-Seat does not qualify because it passes the $55,000 limit, whereas the Model Y 7-Seat does qualify because it is below the $80,000 limit.
- 01/04/2022 UPDATE: The 10,000 Supercharger miles (which is actually 4,000 kWH) have been added to the Tesla App. Check Settings > Loot Box.
Author's Note: This is a deal thread, not a political thread or a thread for people who dislike Tesla. Please refrain from going off topic or thumbing down this thread. You have every right to hate Tesla and its CEO, but please don't thumb down a thread related to Tesla simply because of that. Slickdeals is a deal-hunting forum above all else, and I'd greatly appreciate it if we treat threads in Hot Deals as deal threads and nothing else. Thank you.
I hope this helps,
Tofu Vic

If you feel ripped off now, just wait few more months when the house prices really start dumping. I'm sure strongly worded letter to Powell about you buying late into a bubble will make him cut you a check

"The Change.org petition actually shows pretty reasonable requests. Started by Tesla YouTube host DennisCW, the petition is asking the EV maker to provide those who took delivery of their cars in Q4 2022 free access to Full Self-Driving for one year or free Supercharging miles. Considering that Tesla charges $199 per month for an FSD subscription, the owners' request is quite reasonable. The same is true for free supercharging access.
Both FSD access and free Supercharging would likely not cost Tesla an arm and a leg as the former is simply access to software-based features and the latter is already frequently provided by the company, especially in times of need. Plus, granting the owners' petition would likely give Tesla a lot of positive sentiments from the car-buying public, which is quite valuable for the company as it goes deeper into the mainstream auto market. Should there be lawsuit against government/Tesla for giving low income maker tax dollar giving away to high income maker for buying fancy technology cars.
E.g. e.g. spouse filing separately with income below 150k each will get $7500 total $15k. On other side person making 150k filing jointly (household wife) and have couple of dependent and other credits e.g. 401k contribution college kid expenses etc and the owe less than $7500 in tax. Then can't even get single full $7500 credit. I would like to buy two and get $15k credit. What fault lower income families have and why their tax payers money throw away to high income earner buying fancy cars? What are others opinions on this?
