It was the better deal. More RAM and better graphics for less money. While the Intel CPU here is potentially faster, which would normally win me over, there have been reports of it being severely throttled in this particular PC.
I am not sure you could build this for that kinda dough.

Another thing, if you are thinking of getting this, use the Costco credit card for double the warranty before Jan 31st as that benefit goes away after that date.

Is this a good price for the spec or is the 699 past Costco deal better?

why all the desktops still have DDR4 memory while most laptops already use DDR5?

I'm thinking of getting this.
Do you have a link to the reports of the Lenovo with the i7 12700 being throttled?
I've seen a couple of CPU Mark benchmark scores for this PC. One shows lower than average, but still a little faster than the Ryzen 5700G. The other report shows normal slightly above average score. Both scores show normal average in single thread score, which is significantly faster than the Ryzen 5700G single thread.

I got the other deal for the HP Victus with the Ryzen 5700G and the RX 6600 XT. The CPU scores a little above average, but the RX 6600 XT gpu is giving scores about one third less than average.

Pulled the trigger on this one. I'd like something a little better, but this is a nice price point.

Got this one when it was $899. Had it for a month and it stopped turning on. Power supply issue. Read online I guess it's pretty common. Sucks because I really liked it. Was able to return to Costco no issues.

I was about to pull the trigger on it too but I've read a lot of issues like yours so I did not buy it. It's too tempting at this price point tho.

Here is one:

- Actual performance soft-limited by Lenovo, hard-limited by stock cooler. CPU benchmarks ~50% of expected performance (Cinebench R23). Lenovo limits PL1 (low CPU power mode) to 55W, and PL2 (boost power mode) to 169W. Intel specifies 65W and 180W respectively. Even when I max out all available settings (using Intel XTU software), I can only achieve ~60-70% of the expected performance for a stock i7-12700.

It's a decent system, but desktops are like laptops these days--the specs are useless. i7 i5 i9999 they're all throttled by various mechanisms and cut-corners so you don't actually get the performance you think you're buying.

Do you guys have URLs to these power supply issues? I was going to buy this, but now is hesitant.

3060ti is a good amount faster. They're both good deals, but I'd say for $100 more the 3060ti is a better deal if you plan on upgrading the hard drive anyway.

Got it when it was 999 I think, never opened, returned and got it for 899. Now I will have to return again to get 799 ! still in box, never opened it.
Will costco adjust pricing if I purchased 5 weeks ago (never opened, still sealed, so I can easily return).
