Isn't atmos a capability of a receiver? The tv just passes the bitstream to the receiver or sound bar.
Well... it's a very big bedroom, TV's about 15-18 feet away, and we both watch more TV in bed then in our tiny family room. So I think I can justify expanding the soundspace in the bedroom. Not looking for volume necessary, but for directional effects which I assumed Atmos provided.

Anybody know if the 58" panel is the same quality/manufacturer as the 55-65" panels?

Thanks OP, this made for a good last-minute Christmas gift. I really hope this thing can be used without Internet access...

Confirmed with Hisense there's no support for Dolby Atmos.

If the TV doesn't support Atmos, you need another device plugged into that receiver or sound bar that can support Atmos. If you have a Roku Ultra, Apple TV 4K or the like, then you can still get Atmos, but not if you're trying to run the built-in TV apps.

We have a 55" Panasonic plasma in our master bedroom, thinking of decomissioning that into a guest bedroom and getting this instead. How important or worthwhile is Dolby Atmos, for those of you that have it, and what would be the most cost effective soundbar that does it justice?

offf atmos in a bedroom on a soundbar, next your going to tell me you leave the windows open and you live across from an elevated train. Atmos pointless in bed, buy some good bluetooth headphones and dont disturb your partner

I'll pass on the advice then, I don't have atmos and from what i understand its extra speakers specifically to bounce sound off the ceiling.

I have the 50 inch U6HF and it can pass Atmos to capable soundbars via bitstream when connected via eARC (I have the Samsung Q67CB and it displays "Dolby Atmos" on the tiny soundbar display when playing Atmos content on the built in Netflix app). I'm pretty sure the 58 inch would support Atmos via bitstream when connected to the eARC.
