I have this unit. 2k picture quality is noticeably better than 1080p camera/floodlight from FEIT on the same premise, both on Wi-Fi. I prefer the GUI on this unit as well as the longer detection of motion. In for another.

Why is there an option for ethernet on this? Is it required for internet storage or can you use wifi?

Ethernet is always gonna provide better video quality when watching remotely. Especially with it being outside and away from the router.

You can use either WiFi or Ethernet. Like the previous commenter said, Ethernet will provide a more reliable connection, but of course WiFi is more convenient. My house isn't prewired with Ethernet, but it's also difficult for some of my outdoor cameras to receive a strong WiFi signal. For those cameras, I've run an Ethernet cable to a WiFi bridge located inside the house (mounted on an interior wall or in the attic), such as the Linksys RE6500, which I've found on eBay for around $25-$35. Works very well and provides a solid connection to my cameras.

Ethernet port also provide POE (Power over Ethernet) so you can put this cam in places without power by running a small ethernet cable there.

Man, these look great for the money! Then I tried to dig a little further and find out how much the subscription cloud storage is SHOULD I choose to utilize that. Couldn't find it without actually subscribing first after a 5 minute search.

Nope. I'm not getting Wyzed again... moving on.
