It's because the service is awful. The ad-free plans still have commercials there's even commercials when you pause a show. I bought a year subscription to watch all of the Star Trek series and even at 50% off I ended up canceling it and calling to get a refund because it pissed me off so much. Add free should be ad free. Period.
