I have had a cellular apple watch since series 3 and have consistently kept my line active.
What kind of devices will work with Tello?
Watches
At the moment Tello does not support service on any smartwatches.
We hope to have this available by the end of 2022.
It activates as a internet line, separate from a phone line. They do assign a phone number for record keeping purpose. I think most providers offer a basic $5 plan with only 500mb of data. This is sufficient as long as you do not stream music.
I thought the cellular thing was an unnecessary gimmick as I always have my phone on me. But I bit and activated it since it was only $5. It's actually very convenient for me in ways I didn't think of before. Like if I'm outside doing yard work and need to open the garage to get something, I'd normally go back in to do it. But more than likely I have my watch on me and I can open it using my watch. Same for needing to unlock my car real quick.
Again, it's not necessarily a NEED but it is a very nice convenience for $5/month.

I'm torn between this deal or a stainless steel i picked up for a little more. I havent had a stainless before and midnight was not my primary color choice, i wanted blue from regular series 7 🤔🤔🤔

Wondering what makes the Apple Watch Series 8 vs. Apple Watch Series 7 different?
Compared to the Apple Watch Series 7, the Apple Watch Series 8 offers two new features: a skin temperature sensor and crash detection. Yes, it also introduces low power mode, but the Apple Watch Series 7 now gets that feature with the full watchOS 9 update.
Otherwise, the Apple Watch Series 8 is very similar to the Apple Watch Series 7, keeping with an upgrade cycle that has been mostly incremental. While the small changes make the best smartwatch even better, it's likely not enough for you to upgrade from last year's smartwatch to the latest one.
