You can but there's a surcharge. Basically black tickets are worth $10 and yellow tickets are worth $8

So yellow tickets are better to buy for imax tickets upgrthanks. Was about to buy, then red yellow tickets don't work in California..
Still a good deal to buy black tickets for imax upgrade?

Not exactly, this was for a IMAX 3D ticket in CA during the summer:
Ticket: 1 Adult; $18.09
BLACK TICKET: -$12.09
Ticket Total: $6.00
Convenience Fee: $2.49

Convenience fee is waived if you have AMC Stubs.

I literally bought this just a few hours ago to watch Avatar

This deal is insanely good, we bought 6 tickets and even including the convenience fees paid, we still has $6.50 left in gift card balance to buy for like a popcorn or coke

Thanks OP! Ordered 4. After taking the $80 of credit into account it works out to less than $7/ticket for the yellow ones (I'm in FL, don't need the black ones.)
