Been waiting several months for another great deal on the 1 year Tracfone refill card but it seems like Verizon just keeps disappointing their customers. I have been checking many places but Ebay still seems to offer the best deals: 1200/1200/3GB for $60 thru Tracfone ( 50% off the $125 price direct from Tracfone). But this still is far from the old $29 and $39 price before the takeover. But even at $60 it still beats all other providers for those of us who can control our data appetites. I have refilled many times with these Tracfone refill cards sold on Ebay and they have always worked. Never lost my carryover, just be sure to take a snapshot of what you have saved before refilling.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/285059189550

I was able to access the site to unlock smartphones from all Tracfone subsidiaries:
https://www.tfwunlockpolicy.com/w...BIS9nQSEh/
My service runs out Jan.14th 2023 and I wanted to get this done before adding a new service plan. It was a simple process, you provide your #, name, email, and IMEI, and they immediately email you 2 unlock codes - They are like 15 digits so type them correctly, hit submit, and it takes 20-30 secs. to be processed, and the page displays a Unlock Successful notice.

Should be able to transfer your existing service and # to this SIM, along with the new service components. Effectively, you're just swapping SIMs. I suppose you could even then switch back to the old SIM, if you wanted to.

Last time I renewed I paid the $60 dollars because I didn't want to lose all the minutes and data I've accumulated (they carry over each time you renew). However I don't think I'll be doing it again. Unless TracFone (now owned by Verizon) brings back the $30 or even $40 per year discounted rates, I'll be looking at the Red Pocket via eBay $30 or $60/year plans, or the $3/month Ultra plan.

how would those of us with an old tracfone att/sim move our acct to a new verizon sim. do we activate the new verizon sim first and then do a chat to transfer the acct/number/time/data to the new verizon sim?

Get a free phone from them first and on your new phone, text onestep to 611, then you are all good!

You activate the new sim keeping your current number and everything will combine & use the new sim.
My understanding from previous purchases of these preloaded sim deals is that they often will not activate using an active TF branded phone - but I haven't tried again since VZ bought TF, maybe things have changed.
Just be aware if you're using a Tracfone branded phone that there might be problems since these are meant for unlocked BYOP. Also people are still reporting receiving empty sims in recent posts so these are very much YMMV.

Hasn't worked for a lot of users, didn't work on one of mine.
I ended up activating the new VZ sim myself.

when you activated did you transfer the number from your old non-verizon phone to your new verizon phone and did all the time/data transfer correctly?

Yes. I've transferred service (with large balances) between phones lots of times & only had 1 problem when a phone took longer than normal to activate. (Weekends/holidays aren't a good time to switch).

ah, so like edward said above, best to get a free phone with time and transfer in the old number/time/data. right?

You never know, I've been buying these pre-loaded sims for friends & family since they first came out in 2019 and most were OK, several were just empty sims. Always got eBay refunds (item not as described) so not really a big deal as long as you know what to do. I've stopped buying these & instead got several of the cheap flip phone deals with year plans to use for the service. Will activate as needed then move service back to my unlocked phones a few days later.

i have a couple of those cheap $20 flip phones too.

so i purchased a tracfone moto g pure (XT2163DL) a couple of months back. this should be a new verizon-sim phone and I should be able to activate it with its time/data and transfer in the old non-verizon phone number/time/data at the same time, right?

Best deal ever IMO. Got 10,000 rewards points each for a couple of them & got iphone, unlocked & sold for nice profit. TF loses $ on me.

Just got to ask, What is the $3/month Ultra plan? I assume Ultramobile but not aware of that plan. Perhaps it is a yearly advertised on ebay or somewhere else?
