Benchmade inherently has a "butterfly tax" because of the brand's reputation. A lot of what you're getting with a Benchmade product is a warranty, decent steel that will hold an edge, and the Axis lock. If you do some research on the 940 you will see how iconic it has been in the Knife community and how long they can last.

I had the same experience earlier where it went out of stock as I was trying to check out. But then I checked back after 30 min and then it was back in stock. Hope you'll be able to get one.

The term "butterfly tax" is the cringiest thing I've heard all day. Is there a "prancing horse" tax for buying a Ferrari? Maybe a "yellow deer tax" when you buy a John Deer tractor?
