Got this during the previous deal. Pros: lightweight, 14-inch, fingerprint reader Cons: fan noise, made from recycled plastic so some may not like the feel of the plastic. Bazel at the bottom is too thick
Also, this is 10-core (not 12core), not USB-c powered

Huh. That's a surprise. Review says the screen covers 95% of sRGB. Pretty unheard of at this price point.

Disassembly video if you want to know what's upgradable (I haven't watched it yet).

Battery life ~11 hours (web browsing, video playback).

Looks like a nice system. Only box it doesn't tick for me is that it doesn't seem to have power delivery over USB-C (power the laptop via USB-C, meaning you only need to bring one charger for your laptop, phone, tablet, and other stuff when you travel). Well, that and this is the first laptop I've seen since the 1990s which literally looks like a brick.

Great deal! I just wish it had more Type-C ports than Type-A as I'm transitioning to Type-C all-the-things.

Seems like a very good deal if it's what you're looking for. I paid $100 more a couple weeks ago for a lenovo flex 5 with the same specs but obviously the flex is a 2 in 1 and has a touchscreen. If I didnt need those options I would have bought something like this for sure.

Any suggestions on this vs Acer Swift 3 (eBay certified refurbished)? https://www.ebay.com/itm/275387257518

I want to know why laptop screen manufacturers still have so much difficulty to produce screens that go beyond 67% sRGB. Even a $50 Android phone will cover at the very least 80% of sRGB (and, of course, it's gonna be IPS).

Is it just price gatekeeping, to force people that know better to spend more money?

I personally avoid Acer products made with plastic. The Hinges tend to break the plastic off.

Swift 3 is better. Metal chassis, Thinner, quiet and this model is powered via USB C. Downside is that acer certified refurbished is a toss up with what you get. Could be like new or scratch & dent.

Pretty sure this laptop can be charged with the USB C port. From the specs:
1x Thunderboltâ„¢ 4 USB Type-C (DisplayPort over USB Type-C & Power Delivery)
