Excellent price for a laptop that's as powerful as it gets and has best cooling system in the Gaming laptops. This is just $80 more than the last years $1399 but this $80 gives 512GB additional storage and newer and better GPU and a better CPU.
The problem is, they always sell it cheaper on eBay than their own website so people can't use cash back sites or discount codes to get it even cheaper. If this was the same price on Lenovo's site, I'd buy it.
The seller on eBay isn't Official Lenovo but antonline.

I know the L7 with similar specs costs more than this L5P but would there be anything that would make you suggest an L7 over this, assuming specs are the same or similar (AMD CPU, 3070ti, 2TB, etc.)?
I'm not super familiar with the L7 because it wasn't available when I purchased mine. So I would review the specs and compare the differences and see if their are any must have features that you need between the 2. Personally the 5 Pro has more than met all if my needs and I can't see anything I would ask for ATM.
Asus Rog was what I upgraded from and it wasn't a bad laptop just terrible in comparison to this one. Ergonomics especially the keyboard feel, layout, lighting and size are perfect for me. Mileage may vary depending on hand size and typing style but in my book it's a 10/10 which is why I extended my warranty and I'm upgrading it to 4TB storage because I don't plan on replacing this laptop anytime soon.

GPU runs hotter and is barely an improvement over 3070. CPU is actually not an improvement. Good deal when last year's $1399 deal isn't available.

what about the deal I worked up?
legion 5i pro 3070 ti 32gb 2tb ssd, 1366, 1488 after tax. from what I understand, 40 series will be 30% faster than this generation, so this should be equal to a 4060 possibly, and a 4060 maybe around 1500 bucks, so buying now isn't really much risk imo.

Be careful, they charged me 15% ($210) on the return, even though there is no mention of such a penalty on the listing. I am currently going through eBay disputes to get this resolved.
I may have gotten unlucky, but the laptop would BSOD while gaming regarding dxgkrnl.sys -- no driver update, ddu driver reinstall, windows updates, or windows reset would fix the issue. I provided a photo of the screen and a video of the laptop screen refusing to turn on, and I got deducted $210 from my return.

this is why I dont buy from them, I read so many negative things about them. people have to argue really hard even when they get defective things
I got the 6800h model for my small machine learning project and absolutely love it. I think my 6800h model can be upgraded to 64gb ram according to several sources, so I'll try it out today. It costs about $260.
decided to grab a Lenovo Legion Slim 7i with the 12700H and 3060. pretty blazing fast and open box put it at 1289. feels like a solid choice but this one is compelling. I wonder how the battery life compares.
This one should have better battery life. The 12th gen Intel CPUs are murderous on battery life.
Bad option to go for a gaming laptop in general if gaming regularly unless you are always on the move. If you are at home and gaming on a laptop, might as well get a desktop which will be way better from a cooling standpoint.

I've gamed on laptops for years and have had no issues. The only issue you have is by needing to get a new laptop if you want the latest GPU, motherboard and sometimes the CPU.
doesnt cash back only hit when your card gets charged? so if you get charged months later you're not getting 10% on today's rate you're getting whatever r*ten's rate is that day
I think the rate is the day you made the order, I got a notice the day after I ordered and it already said I earned that amount of cash and my card wasn't charged yet

And for anyone that ordered off Lenovo's website and got their order delayed, go do a chat on the website and the support rep will gladly offer you a credit back to your credit card for the delay, they call it a "monetary concession" they tell you to email them after your item ships to get the credit
Correct
But I canceled it all.
Just saw ces. Gonna wait for a hefty discount in this uocmoning fall or spring. I want one of them new 40 series cards in one of the rumored Lenovo pro series laptops.
Gonna be worth the wait. Lol
I figure I'm going to get the a real desktop replacement and the ces nvidia display claims it's up to 3x more fps, with even less heat and more efficiency.
Leaks are saying Lenovo is displaying a 16.8 pro line to house the new gpu's etc. I will prob be dropping 2000-2500 for new laptop next Friday. But I think it's gonna be epic
