Don't get the 256GB models of any M2 laptops. You're better off spending more with 512GB or saving more with an M1 laptop

If you are not working with heavy files regularly, it will hardly make any difference. In every other aspect M2 is better than M1

For a vast majority of MacBook Air users, 256gb will be more than enough. I wouldn't flat out recommend that everyone pay to upgrade the ssd on this base laptop.

They have $150 off on the 512 GB model. It has 10 core GPU. $1300 but probably worth it if you keep your laptop for more than two years.

True.
No need for speed today, but I keep my computers for a long time, so I future-proofed myself. Smilie
Just got the Air M2 with 16Gb RAM and 512 Gb SSD in Midnight at BH Photo for $1449.

Waiting for a deal on a M1 iMac that may not come. Just feels silly paying close to retail for a computer that's almost two years old and about to be refreshed in the spring.

As for the M2 MacBook Air, $999 is a stellar price and this model is all that most Air users will need.

I'm thinking about getting an 8c/16GB fully-loaded M1 Air instead. But I also think I'd prefer an iMac desktop, and wish we saw similar deals.

You future proofed by paying ~$500 (incl taxes) MORE vs this deal ?
How about using that $500 savings and selling this deal laptop after 3 years and just getting a brand new M5 later ?
That's the real SD way of future-proofing.
